So I installed the sending unit for my Gauge into where the stock sensor was and so my stock gauge doesn't work obviously, but now I'm throwing a CEL.. is this something I can have my tuner turn off so I don't get the CEL? And it's not going to effect the way my car runs right? Or if I should just keep the stock sensor where it was, and where do you recommend I install the aftermarket sending unit?... thanks.

Yes You need the factory coolant temp sensor installed. It's an extremely important input for ignition timing and fueling. You can get the MMR thermostat housing with a bung pre tapped for installing the sensor for your aftermarket gauge.
