Ended up with a 03 cobra with an On3 turbo kit with a 2004 Mach 1 motor and trans. Long story, paid too much m, oh well

I want to crank the boost up on this thing. What rods and pistons should I be looking at to achieve some significant HP gains and sort of bullet proof this thing?

all suspension and rear are beefed up, was a twin turbo car originally.

70mm I believe. On 6lbs

not sure if exact numbers kid I got it from said 607rwhp but not sure I believe that
Fwiw, I was making 450/450 rwhp with 5# with the upgraded MP 70mm/.68ar turbo with the On3 Gen 2 setup when I started out and that was with 98 cobra intake cams and 10.67 custom DSS pistons, 4.75 stroker and a Snow Stg 2 meth kit.

Yeah no. No way in hell are you making 607 RWHP on 6lbs not to mention your rods wouldn't survive if its a stock Mach1 engine. But to answer your question get some good H-beams and pistons from either diamond or manley. If you want to get crazy you can do custom pistons from gibtech which is a good option if you don't want to bore the block and just hone it. Be for warned that some shops will refuse to do just hone a block, that's been my experience anyway.

Not to be a dick but are you SURE you bought a real cobra? The reason I ask is because I have seen multiple posts on FB and CL lately with people selling either fake cobras or even theft recoveries with complete BS stories to go along with them. These all seem to be cars owned by people I would consider kids who won't provide a vin number to verify. Having a Mach 1 engine is a massive red flag to me.

Yea the car was originally a twin turbo car. Guy that put the car back together bought it as a roller. I was suspicious of that also but the vin comes back as an 03 cobra. At this point I wouldn’t consider it a cobra though. Everything has been changed.

Shouldn’t have bought this car but I’m going to make the best of it cause it is mine now.

I would do the rods and pistons myself. I bought this for a project car.

thank you for both of your recommendations. If you have any links to vendors that I can purchase these parts from I would appreciate it.

Wait for black Friday at modular head shop, mmr or any of the big modular suppliers. I bought a ton of stuff used on the marketplace here and on the corral. Took me a while, but it was worth it. You will be able to get 600 rwhp reliably with the On3. If you want PM me And I'll send you my build spreadsheet....

No problem. Sucks the car has been changed so much.

What all has been changed by chance?

The vendors mvk13 posted are good places to look.

The rear was changed to 8.8 with tru trac
Has a full cage with swing out bars.
Strange coil overs
K member for turbo
Racing cobra seats with 5 point harness
Hood is carbon fiber
31 spline axles
The speedo runs off gps? Auto meter gauges
steering wheel is detachable

like I said this was a twin turbo car, so everything besides the motor and trans are from the twin turbo build.

Are you sure it’s a Mach motor and just doesn’t have a Mach intake?

For a Cobra bad wow. I'll never understand why people do stuff like this to these cars. They should buy V6's or rollers IMOP.

it was a roller when he got it. I got it cheap but not cheap enough. I agree with you. I’m just going to make the best of it.

At least he didn't destroy a nice running cobra.

What are your plans for the car in the long run?

One thing I would suggest is unless you want a strip dedicated car I would look to trading your build stick axle for an IRS as the ride is much better even with delrin bushings.

ideally I’d like to get to 700hp
This car is going to be a project and I want to do a lot of the work myself besides tuning.

Not to concerned about the axle. I have an enclosed trailer to get it to the track and will mainly take short trips close to home.

it not a solid axle I don’t believe. Not really sure what tru trac means

forged crank, rods, diamond pistons. e85 will be much more capable. Bore out to 302. 700 whp probably 12 to 15 pounds.
