30 years ago Kali was "ok". now it's a ****ing shi

Like all states, there's good and bad. My neck of the woods is solidly conservative, there's more animals than people, and you can make as much money as you want. I have two houses on two acres with 75 oak trees, with generally great weather year round. The democrats have certainly screwed up the cities, but the high cost of living weeds out most of the riffraff.

Florida is full. You will never understand Florida life unless you were born there. The weather is unpredictable. The huge homeless population will harass you more than the bugs. Home prices are insane. Old people will run you over and kill you before the fried food will. Good luck on your search.

I prefer to spend my time in FL living on a boat.

This would thw only state in the Midwest i would ever give a shot at. Especially with me outside all the time in the construction world lol

I went to school for an indoor job, now I work outside year round. Last couple days have sucked some major ass, but that’s had more to do with my POS 2wd work truck than the cold.

A lot of construction guys around here go on unemployment for the garbage months I believe.

As a Indiana/Michigan veteran who grew up in Europe and traveled extensively...

(comments reflect Northern Indiana/Southern Michigan.

If you don’t work outside, Whats the big deal with winter?[/QUOTE]

Because they are suicide inducing depressing garbage.

In the Michiana region winters are an endless up down from +35 degrees to - 12 with rain, snow and sleet. It begins in October and will extend out into April.

It's always enough snow to be troublesome and never enough to be fun. It always turns half melted, Grey and disgusting. It always snows before half the leaves are down and raked up.

You lack the enjoyable outdoor winter activity like snow sledding, down hill skiing, ice fishing. You also lack any enjoyable indoor activities since it's a rural shit hole.

To "survive", you need a massive heated pull bar to do any winter projects. Nothing sucks more than wearing coveralls, so you can sweat while you freeze to death in March.

Week before TX2K.

Sure it sucks for a few months, but there are plenty of upsides to Indiana.

Save on auto insurance Dec-April

Because your car is in storage or slowly rusting away driving in all the salt in slush.

No hurricanes
Tornados and Blizzards
No scorpions

Brown Recluse Spiders everywhere
Mosquitos and Dear Ticks, everywhere

Regular amounts of old people
Inordinate amount of fat chicks

Low taxes
Low cost of living

Fewer Job Options and lower pay.

No emissions testing
Depends on county

No mountain lion attacks
No alligators (or rides)
Venomous snakes are super rare
Canadian Geese

Gary/Lake County is easy to avoid

What about South Bend, Laport, Fort Wayne, Kokomo and Jeffersonville?

Humidity isn’t horrible

Bold Face Lie.

Summer is plagued by humidity and rain - but only on the weekends. Indiana does not have fall or spring

Have a few casinos

And they are dumps.

I’m probably forgetting a couple.

Nope, not really.

Geographically Indiana is the same as lOLhio and Illinois. The only pro is the the more moderate politics and government that reduces some of the hassles.

Michigan is vastly superior geographically. Go up north and you get real winter. You have lakes, rivers and the Great Lakes which give you a faux ocean experience.

Michigan also has rolling deep forests, mountains and hills, oh and Silver Lake Sand Dunes for some OHV fun that can only be matched by the west coast.

The two decent cities in Michigan are also better then anything Indiana has - Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids.

Michigans auto insurance sucks, but they are working on that. Their registration and vehicle taxes are a fraction of what Indiana is. Their DMV will also give a license plate to anything, unlike Indiana.

If AZ gets a dem governor im Out. Same ****ing footsteps as Kali. I just moved too, goddamn it.
That's the only thing saving us right now. I realize we've had democratic governors in the past and the world hasn't ended but the Democrat party is so radical these days that the next time around might be different.

@Corbic

You sound ever so slightly jaded by the glorious lands of Indiana.

Of your rant, I’ll award you two points for mosquitoes.
Only lived in that shit hole for 18 years.

Moved to AZ last summer, it's been an endless vacation.

Before you cry about the heat.

Arizona -
114° is 42° off from a perfect day (peak summer)

Indiana
-6 is 78° off from a perfect day. (peK winter)

I don't have to shovel heat and after 9 months I've still yet to see a Scorpion.

All states are moving blue.

Indiana voted for Obama in the first round and picked Bernie over Hilary.

Pete Buttplug came from Indiana (South Bend) and all of Northern Indiana is solid blue.

Indiana's neighbors, Michigan, Illinois and lOlhio are also blue.

Cool.

I spent the month of January in fort Myers beach.
Closing on a condo in Naples in March provided there’s no major problems with the inspection. Won’t be an all winter dwelling but I plan on going as much as I can.

You work in Naples?

7upstang doesn't work. He says he does but all he does is call me on the way to his extravagant lunches in Naples while his employees do all the work. The life.

Another one in Fort Myers here. And don't listen to anyone saying that people in Sarasota, Tampa or even Orlando are any different or nicer than S. FL or anywhere else. There are a**holes everywhere you go.

I love it here but kinda want to move closer to the mountains. One day. But if you vote blue, stay where you are. We don't want your emissions, no-modding, & state income tax ideas here in good 'ol Florida!

I'd pick a state that declares themselves a 2a sanctuary state, and has a high probability of joining the succession movement. Freedom is more valuable than anything else. If a succession movement ever gains real steam, I am not going to even wait for my shit to sell. I will drive my ass to the freedom border and hopefully get there before the USA blocks it.
I feel the exact same way. I’ll be moving in a heartbeat.

I eat liberals for lunch. I’d disembowel them for free if given the chance.
You will not be disappointed. I will vote for DeSantis three times before you make it to the polls.

Awesome, you'll love Naples. Way better than Fort Myers Beach in my opinion.

I work all over Lee and Collier County doing window coverings. My showroom is in Naples but my factory is in Fort Myers.

If you need anything or any good recommendations, just reach out to me. Happy to help.

I’ll tell ya. We loved fort Myers beach for the month. Had a Jersey shore feel but the traffic was real bad. Had to use bikes a lot. Will definitely go back and visit for a day but I wouldn’t want to live there.

We were looking to buy in st Pete’s Sarasota or Naples when we started shopping around.
Ultimately the condo we are buying was on the market for 3 hours when our realtor called and said to jump on it. It will be gone be the end of the day.
I don’t want to say the name of the street but it’s in a neighborhood 5 minutes from the beach near Marco island.

I got a question.
What is the best gym in Naples. For bodybuilding routines not a CrossFit gym.
In fort Myers beach I worked out at hammerhead for the month and loved it. The owner is a great person and she loved me. I’d join there but it’s too far away. I’d guess it’s got to be 45 minutes??

If you can say it what is the name of your showroom. If you don’t want to say pm me. We might need window treatments. I don’t know if the owners are leaving stuff or not. I know my wife is gonna make an offer on the furniture etc but that’s all her decision.

Another one from Naples. If you have the money and don’t go out late at night it’s a great place, I love it. I second Whats said about fort myers, it’s got a lot more stuff but it’s a little rough.

Someone asked about Labelle, it’s quaint but rough. There was a huge block party a few months ago with about 4-500 people that the sheriff had to disperse. Someone was shot by one of the deputies that night. Otherwise it’s very industrial, nothing but farms and blue collar jobs so the area is full of blue collar workers, mostly low income farm workers. If you don’t speak Spanish I’d stay away. Not a bad place to visit though.

You want small and quaint? St augustine.

Plus unless I missed it, no one has mentioned the theme parks. A huge plus to living in Florida.
