Florida is full. You will never understand Florida life unless you were born there. The weather is unpredictable. The huge homeless population will harass you more than the bugs. Home prices are insane. Old people will run you over and kill you before the fried food will. Good luck on your search.

I know it's not on your list, but stay away from GA. We're also full.

Honestly, I'd pick the place with the least population and the least traffic. If there's one thing I have learned (or confirmed) throughout the pandemic, it's this: congestion and crowding leads to a significant decline in my quality of life.

What's your opinion of the housing market? I don't know how or where normal salaried people buy or afford the houses.
Right now as others have said it’s crazy, pretty much need 2 income family these days anywhere. 30 years ago I paid 89k for my home now it’s worth 400k.

Yea, because Texas doesn't get hurricanes, Rita, Ike, Harvey, Imelda, Laura, and Delta that all hit me in the last 15 years must have all been in my imagination. I wouldn't move to TX if I didn't already live here, between the hurricanes, floods, heat/humidity and recently all the plants blowing up around here, I'm out of TX if I ever get the chance.

If you’re in Orange you definitely have been worked over bad the last decade or so. Obviously we get hurricanes but it seems like Florida gets 2 for every 1 of ours. Move west and inland a little maybe?

I’ll also add in Arizona. I’ve heard good things recently.
Arizona isn't what it used to be. Our housing market is out of control because of California transplants and our politics are following. It's also way too overcrowded. Any public event you go to is over capacity and what used to be beautiful outdoor activities are now packed to the gills with assholes. I'm Arizona born and raised and if I weren't tied to this state with my son I would leave.

The cali shithead transplants don’t surprise me, shame to hear about the other stuff tho.

Born and raised Brockton. Living in Naples.
Yep, in Fort Myers about 30 minutes north. But I'm in Naples on daily basis.
Cool.

I spent the month of January in fort Myers beach.
Closing on a condo in Naples in March provided there’s no major problems with the inspection. Won’t be an all winter dwelling but I plan on going as much as I can.

You work in Naples?

So the midwest and the cold is not where I want to be. I'm looking at 3 locations with positive/negatives:

-Los Angeles My sister lives here so we could probably go half and half in the EXPENSIVE housing market

-Tampa/Sarasota My cousin, his wife and their newborns live here. Would have to make new friends.

-Virginia Beach Grew up here and have a lot of friends. Cold winters and no family.
LA: **** no, **** no, **** NO.
Tampa area is amazing. especially Clearwater area. Cheap housing, cheap living. downfall is hurricanes.
virgina beach, I have no idea.
I moved to AZ, best decision I have ever made.

If you don’t work outside, Whats the big deal with winter?

Sure it sucks for a few months, but there are plenty of upsides to Indiana.

Save on auto insurance Dec-April
No hurricanes
No scorpions
Regular amounts of old people
Low taxes
Low cost of living
No emissions testing
No mountain lion attacks
No alligators (or rides)
Venomous snakes are super rare
Corn mazes are cool for 10 minutes
Gary/Lake County is easy to avoid
I live here
Humidity isn’t horrible
Have a few casinos

I’m probably forgetting a couple.

I'd pick a state that declares themselves a 2a sanctuary state, and has a high probability of joining the succession movement. Freedom is more valuable than anything else. If a succession movement ever gains real steam, I am not going to even wait for my shit to sell. I will drive my ass to the freedom border and hopefully get there before the USA blocks it.

As crazy as this sounds it was one factor of many in getting me to buy a place in Florida. If things get that bad I pack up my family and my shit and drive down if I am not there already.

If AZ gets a dem governor im Out. Same ****ing footsteps as Kali. I just moved too, goddamn it.

Lol, you just frickin moved there. But if AZ is on it's way from purple to blue you might be better off cutting your losses.
PA is a lot like AZ. Our state House and Senate were up until this last election Republican super majorities. Our House still is but our Senate became 55 R- 45 D. But year after year we get flooded with 2 platers from NY & NJ moving in and bringing their cancerous politics and attitudes with them. And our state GOP are a bunch of rino ****s.
I've been contemplating moving somewhere super red like Wyoming, South Dakota or Utah if things get too bad.
