Any folks out there know much about V.W.?

My son is looking for a newer car and came across a 2014 V.W. CC 3.6L VR6....I have no experience with any V.W. and just want to make sure they are a decent and reliable vehicle before he makes
the purchase?

Thanks............

My Mom has had some type of VW for the last 25 years. They have all been pretty good vehicles, but she takes care of her stuff. I always liked the 2003 era Golf R.

My son bought a 2015 GTI back in January I think. It's been good to him so far. He tried to get a Golf R this past weekend, but lack of credit got him denied.

They can be spendy as hell to repair. I forget the year or model but had one come in for an overheat. Turns out the T-stat was bad. The repair estimate was around $1k because you had to remove the timing belt to replace the T-stat.
Customer declined and towed the vehicle out of the shop.
I am not a fan of VW, especially since they got busted on that multi Billion $ emissions scam they pulled.

In most cases yes. But I have worked on to many German vehicles to give them credit for anything. Their mantra seems to be "We can make it more complicated than anyone...Just because we can!"

I had a 2014 Touareg. Probably the best overall vehicle that I have ever owned. Fit and finish was outstanding. It was TDI R line. Perfect before I had to have it neutered due to the emissions scandal.

Had 2 golf R’s.
Once I realized I was sitting on my junk, I pulled out and sold.

The land of commies and socialists!
I've owned 1 VW and that will probably be the last.

It was a 2017 passat r line. The car rode and handled well but it was a damn animal magnet.

I also despised the head unit and odd VW quirks were annoying. It was also the absolute most worthless vehicle in the snow. The traction/stability control system liked to freak out easily. It also hated dips in the road at higher speeds. The system locked up the drivers side wheel on me one day and almost put me into the car next to me.

I looked into disabling it and apparently I needed to buy a switch to turn it off. Shortly after that I sold it.

For me it was all the little things that finally added up.

Love my 14 TDI when the DEF system doesn’t have issues. So far only one hiccup.

Car rides smooth, cruises nice, lots of leg room, trunk space. 40+mpg. 60k miles so far.

Had a Jetta TDI for 6 years then another for 4 years, been good.

My brother had a 80k mike Atlas that he does not maintenance on, it seems good as well.

Generally I hate the VW dealers but the cars are good.
