im sure this has been asked before but I haven’t been able to find the answer I’m looking for. So I already did the bolt ons for a stock blower and well it got boring quick.

For the extra 1000 bucks is the Whipple worth it if I plan on building my motor in the future? I’m planning on staying on 93 pump. I’d like to hear from some people with experience with both

The VMP Gen 3 TVS 2650 is more comparable to the Gen 3 2.9. Prices are probably comparable if you shop the Whipple. If you only intend to run pump, you're not leaving that much power on the table with a built engine if you stuck with the 2.3. Not to mention that once you get over 700 rwhp, traction becomes your biggest problem.

From an all out power perspective on rear feed sub 3 liter GT500 blowers see below. For pump gas stock motor combos Gen 2 R.

FRPP 2.3 TVS < GEN 1 2.3 TVS < Trinity 2.3 < Gen 2 2.3 TVS < Gen 2 R 2.3 TVS < Gen 2 2.9 < Gen 3 2.9 < 2.65 TVS

I imagine the 2.8 KB is close to the Gen 2/3 2.9 in power.

I'll have ads posted tonight (having iPad issues but can text pics).
Selling my ported Gen2R and a ported welded Trinity 2.3 you can PM me for contact info.
For OP, it all depends on your goals.
For guys without a built motor and rare track use, the Gen2R is best for most street GT500 guys.
Unless you want seriously more than 800rwhp, save your money on the big blowers.

This BPS ported 2R made 965rwhp SAE on E85.

The 1320 ported/welded stock Trinity 2.3 made 755rwhp SAE pump 93 stock 5.8 and 930rwhp SAE E85 built 5.8

These are my personal results nothing shop sponsored.

Both are for sale.
We were going big Whipples but for this year will do maximized Gen3 TVS2650 and if that’s not enough maybe big Whipples next year.

I’m extremely happy w my Gen 3 Whipple 2.9. Stock motor, stock cams, conservative 93 octane pump gas tune w only 17 degrees timing making ~ 780rwhp / 750rwtq. I would stick w the factory 2.3 TVS for ~ 700rwhp goals or buy 2.9 Whipple Gen 3 or TVS2650 for 750rwhp - 900rwhp E85 goals. Take your pick.

That thing is sexy as hell.

How much boost at 750hp?

Agree for most part.
When I say for most part, your stock 2.3 could have given same results around 750rwhp BUT now you’re set so that when you build more motor your Whipple can make up to 1000rwhp.
Looks great too!

I’d put the Trinity over the Gen 2 but below the 2R

Tuner could have pushed this to 800rwhp+ on pump at 19 degrees. Intentionally a safe tune at 780rwhp w only 17 degrees.

Most likely I’ll go E85 this winter and build a race tune just to see what it’s really capable of doing w stock motor.

Tuner feels it’ll support 1000rwhp w built/cammed motor in future so like you said all the upside plus strong current results (and great looks).

Well you gained 35 going to the R over the Ported/welded trinity. None ported Gen 2 to R gains are usually in the 20-30 range. I have yet to see a trinity out power my Gen 2 on our local DJ.

There you have it. Gen 3 may do 1075rwhp. Only thing standing between me and 1075rwhp is air and oh about $20k

Has anybody picked up 40 whp with a Gen 3 over the 2 with no other changes?

Yes 40rwhp is typical of a Gen 2 to Gen 3 upgrade. I had entire area under the curve elevated as well.
