[QUOTE="_Snake_, post: 16626325, member: 159147"] My name is Mike and I’m a veteran with PTSD. I never imagined how it would affect every aspect of my life: my career, my marriage, relationships with friends and family, and even just my desire to carry on living. Three years ago I did not understand PTSD nor could I empathize with anyone who had it, even though I’d been struggling with it since 2003. I hit bottom in 2019 and was well on my way to becoming a statistic. Having nothing else to lose, I finally reached out for help. I was surviving, but not thriving. Then I discovered Southeastern Guide Dogs and was matched with an 18-month-old yellow lab named Ryan in June 2020. My service dog’s awesomeness is only matched by the organization that provided him to me free of charge. They’re currently in the middle of their largest annual fundraiser, the Heroes Challenge, and Ryan and I were included in the making of their video. Will you please help get word out? A gift to the Heroes Challenge at Southeastern Guide Dogs will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $500,000. (gifts made before June 30, 2021). If you choose to donate, please include “Mike and Ryan” in the comments section. This is strictly being done out of curiosity and I was not presented with an incentive nor am I receiving any type of compensation. If you want to go big, please send me a PM and I’ll get you in touch with the right people at Southeastern.
