Mustang enthusiasts would be thrilled to discover that Grabber Green will be available in 2002, only it won’t be on the new 2002 Mustang. This is no joke; the revival of the Grabber colors is making its debut on Ford’s bestselling Focus and also on the ZX2. But even if you can get over the fact that the Grabber color will premier on anything but the Mustang (and I doubt many of us will), the fact is that this “Grabber Green” is not new to the Ford color palette at all. In fact, it is the same (or appears to be the same) Tropic Green that has been a staple for the Mustang for years. Our question is: Why revive the term “Grabber” at all if not for your #1 performing vehicle? It is certainly plausible that the Focus would deserve to be included in a revival of the Grabber colors; due to the performance path the Focus is taking. However, the Mavericks and Comets of the early 1970’s were not alone. So, why exclude the Mustang?
Venturing further into the “new for 2002” for Mustang, we can hardly go without noting Ford Media’s statement regarding the exterior revisions for the V-6. “The V-6 receives more contemporary "scoopless" side C-scoops.” Talk about hitting under the belt. How could this happen? It’s hardly been six months since most of us purchased the exclusive Mustang Bullitt and Bullitt-owners are already competing for originality due to the aftermarket blitz of Bullitt parts. Now Bullitt-owners will be joined by the same styling cues on the V-6. Say it isn’t so.
This is so DUMB of Ford...just give us the Mach 1 with the Grabber colors and keep them off the "world" car.
