Im an old dog learning new tricks. A couple of things Im wondering. First, if the emissions ready is turned off does that also mean the DTC codes for each continuous and non continuous system is disabled as well?

If a tune is loaded into the PCM and has the options locked, is it possible to use a device like an HP editor, to change parameters in real time ( lets say you just wanted to change the gear ratio without getting an entire tune redone). Thanks! Im learning alot!

It depends on how they turned them off. They should not be turning anything emissions off though as that is illegal.

Options locked means the device is limiting you by the person who wrote your tune. Tunes themselves cannot be locked.

HPtuners is a tuning software. Your mixing up terms. HPtuners cannot realtime tune a ford the only device capable of that is the moates quarterhorse.

Realtime tuning means making changes while the engine is running.

if you can read it out you can edit it.

HPT will let you do it as long as the person who wrote the tune didnt change the strategy tag.

It also depends on the ecu type. If you have a 2015+ ecu the gear ratio and tire size is not stored in the ecu its in the body control module. Thus its unrrlated to the tune and you can change it without touching or having an aftermarket tune.
