Under Hood Blanket

This isn't my first rodeo with mustangs but this is my first 2003 cobra i have heard mixed things on the blanket under the hood i have heard it helps with cooling with modified hood vents and your supercharger screams louder but i have also heard it could damage your hood with long distance driving can someone give me some clarification on this modification

Get rid of it, 99% of us have ditched ours, and you won't have any negative side effects.

Really? Didn't search thinking this hasn't been talked about.

Only thing it does is keep the blower sound down, the heat in, and if your hood wasn't painted under that blanket.

Take it off and throw it away. No one wants them and no one wants to pay for shipping for them.

Look on cobra bob's site all they do is lower the radio static.

I'd consider buying one if someone had one they wanted to sell. Mine was removed when I got the car and I'm wanting to have all the stock parts for my car.

Mine was off when I got it after a few car shows I put it back on. Since its not painted under there it looks like shit if you raise the hood.

20 miles N. of Wichita, thanks I'd appreciate the blanket. I figured most of these things are just getting thrown away as nobody wants them, and no one wants to ship them.

LOL funny thing is when I bought my car the hood blanket was gone. I knew these things were removed for cooling purposes and didn't think much of it. Later while fixing the pcv hose on the bottom of the intake I saw a ground cable cut near the pass side fender. I got to thinking WTF is this ground cable and why is it cut.

I had to go out to salvage yard in need of a plastic throttle cable clip (found out later that its terminator specific) and figured I'd get a new ground cable while I was at it. I told the guy at the counter what I was looking for and headed back in the yard to look for it. I got to the first v6 stang and popped the hood. The clip wasn't right for the throttle cable so I looked to the corner of the fender for the ground cable and saw that it went to the hood insulation :??: I knew the insulation wouldn't be right so I just left it. After finding nothing in the yard I headed back up to the office and told the guy I struck out on the clip. He asked about the ground cable, he thought I was stupid when I told him it went to the hood insulation. :kaboom:

Took mine out, getting my under hood painted. Looks 100 times better with it out even with the un painted under hood.

Its not going to be cheap but well worth it unless you consider doing it yourself. Here is what I did, came out damn good IMO. Best of luck with either choice, can't get any worse than the burlap piece sitting under your hood.
