^^ This cracked me up:lol:

As stated above nobody is running out of weapons over there. Dude was just a POG that gets to eat 5 hot meals a day with ice cream and cookies in the chowhall. Probabaly a HQ comm guy that only goes out to fix radios twice a month, which is why he got a shotgun. Nobody is out kicking in doors anymore so the shotguns aerent really needed in the infantry units, this guy doesnt really need a rifle so they have him a shotgun just so he has something. Perfect fit.

He doesn’t need a rifle?????!!!!?!?!?!?!?! For the love of god I hope you are an E-1 that will never be put in a position of authority where people’s lives are in your hands:nonono:

I kind of agree.

Like my platoon sergeant used to say, there's really only two departments in the army--Infantry and support.

Your platoon sergeant is ignorant as all hell. I'm sorry that his poor leadership ability has filtered down to you and you prescribe to that stupid ass belief

I bet that Specialist went back to his Chu and said to his buddies "listen to this shit I pulled out of my ass to that civilian that eats in the chow hall"

Please explain how he's wrong. Everyone who's not infantry, supports the infantry.

Im an engineer, btw.

too many ways to put this so just:nonono:

Just explain it to me.

Armor- clears the way for infantry
FA- clears the way for infantry
EN- Clear mines for infantry/build stuff for infantry

The rest of the branches are obvious so I wont go into it.

Is that all they do? No, but you can justify his view (even though he was joking about it).

While I don't really agree with the position there is a case to be made for it. Most other MOS's do support the infantry in some way or another. Ofcourse they do other things but in a total war situation that is kind of the way it breaks down. And while infantry is extremely important those "support groups" are just as important, as without them the infantry could not effectively do their job. I was a tanker and I am now a combat engineer by the way. Although I would assume the statment was ment more as a joke/jab at other MOS's.

It always starts off as a joke/jab. But when people start whipping out their dicks to compare, everyone finds out they're just average size, so people get butt hurt.

The infantry is the backbone of the Army. Almost every MOS is created to support the Infantry is some way or another, does that mean that only 11B's are fighting this war, hell no. Don't take it so rough, but it is the truth.

And yes I'm Infantry, and I'm not comparing the size of my dick to anyone else so hopfully I don't piss in to many people's cherrios, because that was not the intensions of this post. We all serve our country, we all do and have done great things in either Iraq or Afghanistan. POG or no POG you get my respect for joining any service and making a sacrifice to our great country...as cheesy as that is, it is the truth.

This is exactly what I'm saying.

Apparently some of you get upset because your egos are in the way.

Im an engineer, therefore I'm support. I didnt say the infantry is better than any other branch. All are necessary, but the infantry is the main reason why there are other branches.

Hell, in the Civil war there were only three branches. Infantry, field artillery, and cavalry. FA, like it does today, supported the infantry while cav scouts got reconnaissance for the infantry.

Yea, he doesnt really need a rifle if all he does is walk around on base. It's not like camp Ramadi is going to be over run. When and if he goes out he more than likely will be with an infantry platoon and they are more than well enough armed to stop anything in Iraq. If it comes down to it that he actually needs a weapon then its probably going to be close combat anyway, the shotguns strong point. It's not like you can shoot out of the humvees anymore.

Actually I was an E-4 vehicle commander and never lost a guy but thanks anyways.

What are you getting so butt hurt about? It's the truth. Theres combat arms MOS's and theres combat service support MOS's. Its not like were making it up, its a fact. Chill

you haven't the first ****ing clue what he does. it is your ASSumption that he is a comms guy. I can tell you for a fact that he isn't.

here is what I see, I see a bunch of marines and infantry treating others as lesser importance because they are not infantry or marines. Yet the very people they insult with terms like POG or Pogue or fobbit are the very people that give them resupply of their ammo and other equipment, internet in their shop and/or hooch on post, hot chow that, while it leaves something to be desired, beats the hell out of MRE's or nothing, hot showers and a decent place to sleep that's not the ground. The infantry and marines reward them with insults and wanting to pretend like they are worth less because of their MOS. and it is pretty obvious you are one of them.

And what the f*uck do you do internet billy bad ass? I never put down on being a pog just stating it like it is. Go take your hissy fit out on a hajji, if you can leave the wire.

Your coming on here throwing a temper tantrum because some guy you dont even know tells you they are running out of weapons. Really? Are you that gullible? You feel it was necessary to come on here with 2nd or 3rd hand knowledge and try to start a sh*t storm? Get over yourself, your not the savior of the pog's.

Well, from what I have seen. Any Army Infantry unit, expecially those in the 18th Airborne Corp, has plenty of weapons. And yes the Mossberg 500 is issued in each platoon, the idea behind it was for breaching. However, in theater you should have got a breach kit, like hooligan tools also. So whoever said they have never seen a shotgun, I don't know what to say bro, they are all over the place.

Few Q's.

What Branch of The Military Are You In?

What is your specific assignment?

What area would guarantee you a job after you get out?

thnx

our corpsmen had shotguns and pistols. since they are non combatants they could carry those as "personal defense weapons".

We had two shotguns issued to my platoon my second deployment. The SM that were issused them also had an M4 and 9mm. Although most of the times they just took their shotgun while on patrol...was that the smartest thing....perhaps not. Like a couple guys said....they were used for breeching and crowd control...with lethal and non lethal rounds. IMO everyone should be issued a rifle....however you will find that most FOBBITS only carry and are issued 9mm's. I have seen that a lot in past deployments actually. So unbelievable....no....disturbing yes. Im a Armor guy..and have a strict loyalty to the Armor side of the house. In my 12 years of service Ive come to know and to respect the other MOS's and branches of the Armed Forces. We are all one team....with one mission to protect and defend the consitution of the United States. The includes the Infanty down to the support MOS's...weather you go outside the wire everyday...or not...you still play a role in the deployment. Now how productive you are..is all up to you.
