Thought I would start a dedicated thread to document the build progress on my soon to be turbocharged F150. Late last year I bought this 4x4 truck with 2900 miles. Its a 2013 STX 4x4. The previous owner had lowered it, installed caltracks, and added a lot of custom touches to the truck. When I got the truck, I loved everything but the power. Coming from a tuned Ecoboost F150, I really missed the low end torque and power that I had become accustomed to. When I found out that EDP, a local turbo shop was looking to get into the F150 business I contacted them and offered up my truck. Here are some of the pictures that were taken of the truck over the last couple years and the turbo build progress so far. I'm beyond excited!!!

That is a beautiful truck! I'll be following this build.
Good luck and keep us posted. That truck is going to be a blast to drive!

For wheel launches is why I chose a 4x4. I plan on finding the limit of the whole driverrain. I will see how it stalls with the stock converter then go with Circle D if necessary. It will be a great street racer if it can make 700 hp with AWD.

Careful with the Auto mode. Mine will slip sometimes. When it's in 4WD, no issues. The Auto mode is REALLY nice when driving in rain with lots of hp though, so it still has it's uses.

Looking forward to seeing some numbers and some racing!

I'll try not to derail much. Is the t-case in those models clutch engaged or operated? I've been looking at F150s for a 2nd truck, but dont want to miss the ruggedness of the Super-duty drivetrain.

Sorry, I don't know enough about them to answer that accurately. It's on demand though. You can tell the hubs are locked in when you switch to auto, because it changes the feel of the steering slightly. I can still get on it in auto, I just don't go full throttle from a dig with it in auto anymore. That's when it would slip occasionally.

The F150 folks from the FB page and the F150 forums seems to have little or no issues at all hard launching in 4WD. Personally, I like using the ELocker with a controlled launch for when I am just messing around. If I am racing for a short distance, I go for the 4WD. Otherwise, you need slicks and Elocker.

Thanks for the responses everyone. My understanding of the auto vs. 4H is that the 4H physically locks the transfer case. Auto mode uses clutch packs to engage and disengage 4wd as necessary. I had not heard of guys having problems like Troponin in auto mode. Being an STX I don't have fancy options like that. Sounds like the clutch packs in the transfer case in Auto mode arn't up for the Phase II Roush. I had a blast with my tuned Eco 4x4. I would four wheel launch it every chance I got. Surprised a few unsuspecting "street" cars along the way too. I don't plan on putting a roll bar in the truck so it will be limited to 11.49 at the track. Should be fun though.

Looking good! Gonna be a tight fit for the wastegates, but looks like there are a couple nice spots for them to squeeze them in there. Look forward to more pics and vids!

Cool, interesting bits for me to look into. I know on our SDs the "auto" hubs are just vacuum actuated, I can still manually lock them. Our T-case is a typical mechanical case with an electric actuator for 4x4. I do recall an ecoboost F150 that kept slipping the transfer case at a truck pull, it would make a horrible racket, he'd drive off, disengage, and be just fine again.

JPC made a TT kit they threw on a customer's base model 5.0 F150, made well over 1000whp. Instantly made me want to pick up a base model F150 and do something similar...it should be a fun toy for sure. Definitely keep us posted!
