Happens all the time on the side streets here, no accidents. I've stopped a number of times and picked them up and put them on the side of the road.
My wife tried that one time, came face to face with an angry snapping turtle and that was the last time she asked me to stop.
my grandfather always said "you're at the mercy of the dumbest son of a bitch on the road with you" and he wasn't wrong. Dumbass in the left lane playing stupid games

And rattlesnakes. We don't have the iguanas here, just south in Cape Coral and Ft Misery.
People are ****ing retarded. Let's stop on the freeway for no discernable reason and "save" that poor, poor turtle. I'd rather live and not cause a ****ing accident, than save a single turtle. Dumb ass people.
Been doing this all my life out here in the country. Obviously have to take other cars on the road into account first though. C'mon folks.. damn.
