Don LaSota is really good, and his book is a great starting point. That's where I started, getting it with the Pro Racer Package since I already had an X3. I would absolutely endorse going through efidynotuning. Decipha (who's on here occasionally) is probably one of the best out there. His writeups are outstanding. If you're going to get into any serious tuning, go through him. Yeah just hook up your X4 to your laptop and use LiveLink II. You can read tons of parameters from it. Or you can log using the device, but that has some glitches, and then you have to upload it after versus seeing it in real time with your laptop. Don't hesitate. It's a game changer. No more make a change to the tune, write the tune to the handheld, get your car ready to flash, pulling fuses and shit, wait 5 minutes for it to flash, restart, do it all over again. You can tune on the fly, and even tune uploads take maybe 30 seconds with key off. I got done in a couple hours what would have taken me a week or more with SCT. That said the Pro Racer Package is a lot more user friendly as far as labels and descriptions.
