Tuned F-150 Raptor R Makes 710+HP w/ VMP, HP-Tuner, and 5 Star Tuning
Back in 2023 we headed out to 5 Star Tuning in Florence, SC to test a slew of VMP Performance parts on a new F-150 Raptor R. That truck was nicely modified, and looked great, but the owner wanted to squeeze some more power from its Supercharged 5.2L V8. Unfortunately, we ran into a brick wall with the trucks encrypted ECU. No matter what we tried, the factory tune limited the power output to about 610RWHP. Thankfully, HP Tuners has finally come to the rescue for the Ford Performance Industrial Complex with custom tuning for a host of previously locked Ford computers. 5 Star Tuning didn't waist any time reaching out to the owner of that Raptor R so they could get his truck back on the dyno and give it the tuning treatment it disserved. This video explains the results:
The results were extremely impressive. The new baseline numbers were down a bit from two years ago due to the owner adding a much heavier wheel/tire combo (actual 37's instead of the factory 35.5's labeled as 37's), so 5 Star was now starting at ~595RWHP. After a few dyno runs and a couple tune revisions the final numbers were 710.6 HP and 609.8 LbFt. That gain of well over 100 RWHP on 93 Octane is enough to make anyone smile. An F-150 Raptor R is my absolute favorite current production Ford, and results like this make me want one even more.-SID297
