TT 5.4 4v high compression 8k rpm capable

so looking at T56 trans and gear apps. Being ill have low end and midrange beyond 4.6L how would the wide range vs close range effect the cars setup/characteristics. Example

T56 2.66 wide ratio with 3.27/3.331?
vs
T56 2.95 close ratio with 3.08?

also the ability to pull in 5th?
appreciate responses ahead of time
thanks
Joel

What's the goal for the car? That will help with deciding the set up.

The closest I have is when I ran a 5.3L stroker with an F1A. It had a bunch of low end torque. I ran a stock T-56 with 3.27's and then 3.90's. The only real change was I was shifting a lot more with the 3.90's. It spun up quick. If I had kept that car I would have gone to 3.55's eventually. So with that I'd say close ratio with 3.27's.

Go with a close ratio trans and your installed gears. Take it to the track and run it a few times and you'll know what gear to use based on what gear/rpm you are at when crossing the stripe.

ok so time/money wise i want to try to think this out as much prior. Reason being my gears alone will come in just over $400 shipped. With that being said I'm trying to do as much vetting as possible.
