Trunk brake light bad??

I recently purchased a Terminator. The 3rd brake light is currently wrapped in a carbon fiber wrap. I’m not exactly sure if that was done for looks, if it cracked, or if the LEDs went out.

I did check the voltage at the plug on the inner trunk lid, and it is getting power when the brake pedal is pressed.

Could it be that the whole strip is bad? Any thoughts on how I should approach this?

Thanks!

So it's totally covered to where you can't see the lights? If that's the case I'd start by removing the wrap.

Pretty much. Just afraid of what I’ll find under there, and I might have to rewrap afterwards.

But as far as you guys know, are the strip going out a common issue?

I don't think I've ever seen one go out. I've only seen them crack. But as I've learned over the last 4 years anything is possible.

I removed the vinyl wrap and the light does indeed work. Had to remove a bunch of residue though.

Thanks guys!

I had my original one go out. Well some of them burned out. So it does happen.

You can see some working while the others don't. See pic
