Its righteous of you to take the "blame" for those things, it may be misplaced. We signed a contract at a very young age (18 for me). That contract allowed the service to utilize me in almost any way they saw fit. In your case it was to handle heavy ordnance in the vicinity of very loud noises. I am sure they provided safety training and PPE, BUT, you were still damaged while being utilized by the service at their whim. That's not "on you" IMHO. My tinnitus was from a very strong antibiotic some military doctor prescribed that I had to take. Remember, what military doctors prescribe is akin to a lawful order as we are "owned" by the service. That crap messed me up pretty bad, tinnitus, vertigo, and dizziness from just one thing. I had like 4 other "service connected" disabilities added to it. NONE of which I had when I joined. yup, they got their use out of me for 27 years, I did some damage to myself along the way I guess, but when I joined, healthy 18 year old, after 27 years of doing as directed...yeah...some damage was done. Sorry about being off topic.
