My buddy forwarded this email to me... Pictures of the truck arrester bed test at North Bay, On... the driver must have had one hell of a ride...

"Attached are photos I took today of the new truck arrester bed testing. The Discovery Channel rented booms from us for their filming of the event for their new show How things work (I think that's what it's called) This was a brand new transport truck with a fully weighted trailer. From what I heard on site, this entire production cost approx 1 million.

Ken Fricker, Manager"

Yeah...worked flawlessly... the arrester bed just used to be filled with #1 gravel. Would have hated to be anywhere near when the stones started flying...:uh oh:

The gravel would have probably caused less damage to the truck. I see trucks buried up in them all the time on Sandstone Mountain on I-64.

I would think it would be more logical to have it in the right lane, unless this video was taken at a test facility or something. Either way it looked to be very effective. And I'm sure the Discovery Channel will make the 1 minute video into a 30 minute ordeal haha.

Ditto. Neat how well that arrester system works. But the gravel bed surely didn't work in that second video. Lucky that driver wasn't hurt a LOT worse. That was a violent crash.
