Yeah, it’s respectable. Just want more. Did 430 last year in our little work “comp” we do. Hoping for 450 or so in 2026.

My bench is my weakest lift so trying to focus on that too.

Hoping the TRT helps me loose a little BF over the next 6-12 months. But currently bulking so there’s that.
We always want more. That’s the gym life. Doesn’t matter if it’s strength or hypertrophy you’re after. Once we lose that it’s time to retire.
Me. I’ll never have enough muscle mass. Don’t care about strength.

For your bench do you do all the auxiliary exercises or do you just train bench?

There's a group of guys at my gym that do block/board sets for training bench. Thoughts on that?

Fantastic for strength training. Awesome.

Absolutely abysmal for hypertrophy. No doubt about that. Science based.

That’s the reason I always talk to people at length before I would train them about what their goals are.
Strength and hypertrophy training are vastly different animals.

There are tons of auxiliary exercises to help strengthen bench.
I know lots of people prefer to just work on bench exercises and some do lots of auxiliary training. No wrong answers. Everyone is different. No two human bodies are the same.
My philosophy about getting stronger on the bench involves auxiliary exercises.

So is block/board training for bench press kind of similar to rack lockouts(seen those for years).

Basically yes.
Both are partial range of motion movements. You’re working only on the top part of the bench press to improve lockout strength.
The board press is more similar to an actual bench press.

Yes for years until they shut it down. I used to run into Jason Genova in person in Delray Beach and Boca Raton. Nothing will ever compare to the Misc in its prime.

Same .

I lived in Delray for a bit.

School in Lake worth, boynton. ( and royal palm , Wellington )

Ran into all those ****ers often 15-20 years ago

In its prime it definitely was not for the faint of heart. It was all out battle royal. Kill or be destroyed. I loved it.

My parents had a condo in Boca Raton for years. At Mizner Park like right above the Tommy Bahama store. I used to go down there all the time.
