It’s really a no brainer. I ended up with the XLT Tremor 7.3 which I purchased for $54k. I was also looking at a 2dr Rubicon Jeep at $53k Msrp. Again a no brainer.
I like it even with the EcoBoost. I enjoy my coyote truck, but I know the 3.5 is a torque monster. offroad the low end torque will come in very handy. what is the gear ratio @SID297? The FX4 can get 3.73, but obviously the Raptor has 4.10s.
I agree if leaving it stock the Ecoboost would be more capable, but I want to put a blower on a V8. The way I see it, I can give a V8 low end torque (and WAY more horsepower)... I can’t make an Ecoboost sound good. If I want my cake and eat it too I’ve got to start with the V8
I've always scoffed at the manufacturers' off road packages. From the Z71 Chevys, to the Pro4x, TRD and whatever. It always seemed to be better to buy a base 4x4 and spend the money to buy decent aftermarket off-road suspension. Is this any different? I haven't kept up with F150s in a long time. I've driven Nissan Frontiers for the last 10 years, but I've always said if I get a full size truck, it will be a F150.
I bought an FJ Cruiser back in 08’. I can wrench so usually that stuff is a rip-off to me. I did do the off road package which didn’t come with much. Main thing I recall was an E locker in the rear. I think all terrain tires. Rolled that into the Costco auto program and I couldn’t pass it up. But I agree, the upsell on some of the nonsense was ridiculous. “BLM is doing God’s work” 2KblackGT svtperformance.com mobile app
My truck modding days are long over. The power levels they put out are good enough for me. 400hp in my daily is plenty
Lol. I see your point. After I bought my 662hp 2014 GT500 I decided that 600 horsepower should be the new minimum for any of my future vehicles . Anything less is just uncivilized. If a car can’t go 0-60 in under five seconds or a truck do the same feat in under six I’m dissappointed.
The tune on my 2012 eco made all the difference in the world, it wasnt bad before but it's worth it just for the trans tuning
I said I wasn't going to my mod my truck much but its starting to happen; I can't keep anything stock. I added the BMS JB4 piggyback to my 18 3.5 F150 and holy shit the truck moves out and Im only on map 1 (+3.5 psi). Id assume its about as quick as a stock Raptor now. 4A launches are crazy in this thing. Im taking it to the track in the spring time and I'll see what it runs stock vs the JB4.
For my toys....the skys the limit. Typically my truck is the family hauler and my daily. So I just leave it alone and drive/maintain it for the reliability My only concern with a blown 5.0 truck offroading would be busting axles if trying to power through mud or over shooting areas because of the monster under the hood.
After having my ass handed to me multiple times by ecoboost trucks I know they can do some damage. The last one I ran popped my ass off the line and I barely got passed him and he was on large tires
Any ETA on when this package will hit Ford's site to "build and price" one out? Have had my eyes on a SD Tremor for some time now, but this throws a wrench in that as long as its not within a stones throw price wise of the SD.
Maybe I missed it but is Tremor a separate trim model? Or a package to be added to XL/XLT/Lariat etc?
