Long story short, I’m looking to possibly trade/sell my 2017 Focus ST DD. It’s a base car with no frills. I need something with an auto and something with a bit more room (wife has never been comfortable driving a manual..plus we the “let’s have babies soon” talk weekly.

Is there anything out there with comparable value, sportiness and MPGs?

Dk your budget but what about a Taurus SHO, Chevy SS, or CTS V?

A SHO/MKS isn't the sportiest, but they get the job done and run great when tuned. I have a 2012 MKS EcoBoost that's tuned and I haul a 2.5 yo and 1.5 mo in. Just installed Niche Targa M129's today (no pictures yet as it's dirty).

The focus ST is a great value, its a ton of fun for not much money while still retaining a practical car that returns good fuel economy. I haven't found anything else that I would want that do a better job. I know some will disagree but I personally think you lose a lot of that fun switching to a automatic on a slower car like this, its just a blast rowing the gears.

As far as room goes I have a 1 year old and we fit him and all of our stuff with no issues though I will probably upgrade the wifes car to something larger if we decide to have another.

Good luck in your search!

This. I have a Fiesta ST and the car seat fits fine with my 2 month old. My Colorado feels like it has less room. I do not have the Recaro seats though and i could see that being an issue if you had them. The regular seats give you a good 2-3 inches more legroom in the Fiesta so id imagine they would be the same for the Focus ST.

I would say if a sedan is your fancy, check out the Fusion Sport. It ticks all the boxes and has AWD. Ford is also blowing them out right now for WELL under the MSRP. Its 325hp, AWD, 4 door with a good amount of room. Worth a shot to look? They also have that cool purple color(dont know the exact name).

Friend of mine picked up a few months ago a leftover 2017 Fusion sport for $9000 off sticker.

I was going to mention this to OP. Deals can be had they are great cars. It sucks for resale value just like the SHO Taurus which is a shame.

If you're not opposed to a used car, you can pick up a low mileage SHO pretty darn cheap. It certainly is not as nimble as the ST you currently have, but its quick for its size, has a lot of room, and is very comfortable.

Mazda6. More room, sporty ride. Amazing automatic transmission and will get you the MPG you are looking for. There is even a new one with turbo 4. 250hp 310tq.

@Mentos , I just made a similar switch. Sold a 15 WRX for a Nissan Rogue. Overall it's much better having the room to fit strollers/bags/better half's b.s. and still have plenty of room to be comfortable. Insurance dropped, fuel is cheaper and the fuel economy itself is actually better than my wrx was by about 2.5 mpg's.

If you don't need too much more room, a GTI (dsg trans) is a great "do most everything well" car.

Thanks for the responses. I’d definitely like to stick to a midsize sedan. The wife has a newer Escape and I’ve got a beater XJ Cherokee. I definitely need something with decent MPG, since I have a long commute everyday. Ultimately it will come down to my budget and the trade in offers I get. ...I feel like I will get raked across the coals if I trade. We shall see.
