If you have a TP-Link router, you might want to take a look at this.

TP-Link is currently under investigation by the FBI and other agencies for implanting malicious firmware in their routers that sends info back to Chinese Intelligence.

A decision on a nationwide ban is looming pending the investigation.

Very interesting report, and concerning. I don't have any TP-Link hardware, and don't intend to get any. Another good reason why we should be bringing manufacturing products here in the U.S. Companies moved to China production to bring down their costs, and now we're starting to pay a higher "price".

Do not have their router but do have their wifi extender and could never get the damn things to communicate with each other. Know nothing about mesh so way beyond what I can accomplish.

Their extender never worked well with the TP-Link router I had and 4 of my devices either wouldn't connect, stay connected or wouldn't even work at all.

I bought the Ubiquiti Dream 7 router that was recommended in my other thread and ALL my devices connected and everything works with zero issues now.

All this TP-Link junk is going in the trash.

How do they work for distance I am trying to connect to the shop which is like 100 feet away. I have the outdoor EAP225 and finally got them to talk to each other but have not tried taking on out to the shop yet.

I have a TP link router at home. Guess I’ll go back to that router thread from a couple days back and pick something new up. Thanks for posting this!

The range on the Ubiquiti Dream 7 Router is about 250 feet.

You can get one of their access point mesh pro . Downside is you'll have to run a hard line (ethernet) from the router to it. PVC conduit should do the trick.

I'm very happy with the Ubiquiti Dream Router 7 that was recommended.

Haha,
Great chess player. Controversial accusations that he had anal implants that buzzed when he was making a chess move as to whether that was the right or wrong piece to move. Something along those lines.
Ah. I remember the news story on that now.. ”King’s Rook to Code Brown”…..
