I plan to put a set of SVE Series 3 Wheels on my 2004 Mach 1 next summer and I was wondering what brand of tire I should run and what size I should use on these wheels.

18x10's in the rear
18x9's in the front

also could you tell me if a set of H&R SS springs are too excessive for these wheel sizes and tires?

thank you.

Hey, I have have 18's on the Cobra before, and I have H&R SS springs. As I had 275/35/18 on the fronts with ZERO issues, and I ran the rears with a 315/30/18 on a 10.5 wheel. I think a 295/35/18 would be nice looking on a 10" wide wheel.

Thank you for the post, Planter.

I agree with silver03svt, the 275/35R-18 | 295/35R-18 staggered combination is a solid choice for your application.

As for tire brand/ model, this will depend on what you are looking for out of the tires. What are you driving on now and what are your likes and dislikes? Will the vehicle see any track time (road course, drag etc)? What do you want your next set of tires to do for you?

I have stock size Falkens on right now and I hate them. these have terrible traction in the rain.

Pretty much looking for a good street tire with good performance in the rain.

something that grips well on drive pavement. I live in Denver and love running through the s-curves up in the mountains.

im not a dragstrip type of person. maybe some Autocross but tgats about it.

good handling/grip on dry pacement and good traction in the rain.

Thank you for the additional information.

I suggest you take a close look at the Bridgestone RE760 Sport. This tire responds well and delivers solid wet and dry traction. It's an excellent tire for spirited driving. Here are the links with more details:

thanks Matt. Appreciate the answers.

edit: are those the widest tires that can safely fit on an 18x10?

Matt what are your thoughts on the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's in both 305/30/18 and 275/35/18?

The PS2 is solid option as well but Michelin does not produce this model in the 305/30R-18 size. It is, however, produced in 315/30R-18. Given your wheel dimensions, I think it's best to stick with the 295/35R-18|275/35R-18 combination.

that was a typo. meant the 315's.

i thought you said they would fit an 18x10?

why do you think its in my best interest?

No worries, I thought that might have been the case :coolman:

The 315/30R-18 is safe to run on a 10" wide wheel as stated earlier but you will not be gaining much benefit of the tires wider contact patch like you would with running the 295 on this width wheel. In other words, the 295 is optimized to handle better on a 10" wide wheel.
