Can anyone tell me how these were done in the video below, i like the OP's but id like to do something along the lines of these

YouTube - 2011 Mustang 5.0 Flowmaster Hushpower

I originally wanted to do my taillights like the ones in the video,

but if they are done this way, you will not be able to see what you are reversing into at night. And if you are backing out of a parking spot people will not be able to see your reverse lights.

The way they did this was they masked off all parts except for the white parts, they put a dark tint on it. Waited for it to flash, removed the masking, and then sprayed the entire tail light with a light tint.

so they laid tint on it or sprayed it first then waited and pulled the making off and then resprayed? whats flashed?

You shouldn't lay film over your tail lights, or head lights.

First off they look like crap, second off you risk cracking your housing because of trapped heat.

Proper painting is the proper way and best method to tint/smoke headlights.

A good body shop will mix candy black with clear coat. The more paint they lay on, the darker it gets. There is no film involved.

prep the surface

mask off the red parts

spray the tint on the white parts

wait about 10 minutes to dry to the touch (flash)

take the masking tape off

prep the surface again

and spray the whole thing again (both red and white) with the tint

wait for it to flash

then clear it.

then let it cure, then sand and buff.
