Timing Belt Question

I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for.

I am looking into buying an SVT Focus. I have seen some up here with engines that need to be rebuilt or replaced. If it is just a timing belt that snapped would the engine be F'd? Would the valves drop into the cylinders and do a dandy job? Are they interference engines? Or can I just throw a timing belt on and be good to go?

the SVT motor is an interference motor.


timing belt snaps, your looking at major engine work. Heard of people getting lucky just replacing a few valves....also heard of peoples valves playing ping pong in the clyinders.
