My 99 started knocking somewhat aggressively at idle and while i'm driving at higher rpm's/shift points . The truck has always had a slight knock come from the exhaust but never this obvious . Pretty stock for the most part.
Magnaflow catback exhaust
Ss headers with off road mid pipe
K&N cold air intake
egr delete
2.7 in upper pulley

Below is a link to a reddit post i made so the videos of the sound are viewable

Any pointers are greatly appreciated , thank you.

Hard to say from that but a plug ready for liftoff will sound like an exhaust leak. I’d start simple and check all the plugs and around both manifolds unless you can tell it’s the bottom end

Mine has a rattle knocking noise sometimes on a cold start which is my timing tensioners some of these trucks had issue with them leaking interally causing chain slap on the guides.

Ichanged all 8 plugs and coils from ngk tr6 gapped at .34 , which i believe was to tight of a gap considering i only had a 2lb upper and stock lowkey pulley, and msd coils to motorcraft platinum plugs gapped at .40 and OEM coils . I drove the truck for about 7 miles and it ran great the knock was nonexistent at idle and was idling really good but it still somewhat there at higher rpms while driving but it sounds like more of an exhaust leak .
After driving it for about 5 miles tuesday ( ran great btw) and driving it today for 2.5 and parking it , I was on my way home when it started knocking again but worse ... I just changed plugs so i double checked all 8 when i got home and the knock is still there .

It sounds like a spun bearing (rod knock). Can you feel any vibration in the pedals? I could on my coyote with a spun bearing.

Yes,however I tried pulling coils one by one to pinpoint if it was but the knock never went away. Who knows ,maybe its more than 1 if it is.

Pulling coils will not tell you anything. As long as the engine is running it will knock, regardless if it's firing on the cylinder that is spun.

I didn't rule it out completely but somebody i know recommend it to me and it helped them pinpoint the problem before .
