***** UPDATE FOUND THE ISSUE****

SECONDARY CAM CHAIN TENSIONER WAS THE ISSUE

Got a question for some of the experienced members.

Just installed and degreed a set of cams in my car. (crower stage 3 3/4 race ) to be exact and Along with springs. Did everything by the book. Rechecked my work 3 times. Made sure clearance's are in spec.

Yet, I have a tick in the upper portion of the head. Pretty sure I pinpointed the sound from cylinder #2 on the intake side of the valvetrain.

Car still runs beautifully. No backfire, no errattic idle. Runs absolutely perfect. Besides the tick.

I'm thinking maybe a lifters stuck. Or the cam lobe is hitting the cap brace between the cam caps. Like I said I checked clearance's but has any one ever ran into this situation before?

I did have to cut some cam cap braces so the lobes didn't hit, not on all of them but on the obvious ones I did modify.

I will be pulling the valve cover this weekend for inspection.

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

I'd imagine if it was a lobe hitting the cap it would get quieter as it clearances itself. Did you replace the tensioners while you were there? It is possible a couple of the lash adjusters aren't pumping up, but unless it's really loose I don't know that it'll be readily apparent which one (or more) it is.
