In the last 2 years people have been scattered out going from the beach to Darlington. I think people wait and wait for others to leave and we never get organized. Last year we started with 2,..then 2 more, then 5 and by the time we got to Florence we were at 15. How awesome!
I think if everyone will just come up with a time to leave,...2pm? and just agree to leave then, then we will have a long convoy. How great that would be. If everyone will just goto their car at a certain time and leave then we wont have to wait on an announcement. We will have a long line. I vote for 2pm.
Any thoughts on this?? Another time would be better? If not who is with me?

The first couple of years we went to Darlington (remember this is MW's 9th year!) we tried to make it more of a large single line of cars. It worked until we hit US 501 and then fell appart somewhat. It was fun though and made for some GREAT photos. Unfortunately, the Staff is obligated to get there early, so it's hard for us to "lead" the cruise. There are a couple folks that I will talk to about helping lead larger groupings of cars.

Several things that help keep the cruise together... have your car fueled up, eat before you pull out of the parking lot, know the route well.

More later!

Just remember, it will be "informal." Our next MW Staff meeting is on April 3rd and I'll talk to the others about finding some folks to lead groups. There are people that will still strike out on their own and leave at random times. That's cool also. I'll update here and on the MW forums as things get closer.

We had about 15 cars in our group last year. Police escort would be cool! They need to dig up a old SC State trooper notch however!

could we collect a couple of extra bucks to get a police escort?

I looked into that years ago. We cross several different counties and have a lot of cars making this cruise and the logistics are just a bit much when the only choice is SCHP. We (MW Staff) decided long ago to keep it "informal." You have to remember, when a police escort takes place, that agency/officer takes on a level of liability. Some will be fine with a short cruise on simple routes, but the thought of a multi-county cruise with nearly 300 cars becomes a whole other issue all together.

Not saying it wouldn't be cool though....

After nine years of planning, we have debated and looked into many different ideas about MW. We look critically at the logistics of each of the planned events/days and have talked about most any idea you can dream up, but still like to hear what folks have to say. Your opinions mean a lot to us.

Thanks,
Brad W.

Yeah we can do this informal.

Not trying to make it any less fun. I really want to work on getting this cruise more organized. It would make it much better if it didn't spread all out. It would make for some great video footage as well.
