Thinking of revisting my gear/tire setup.

This is on a 2v twin 57 setup making close to 800rwhp.
Currently I'm running a 26" tire with a 3.31 rear gear through a 4r70w with a lockup converter. I rev the motor to 6400. I originally went with this setup to be better for hwy cruising but I'm beginning to think it's overkill.

Pros of my current 26" tire/3.31 gear setup
Cruising RPM: <2500 at 80mph
It's a top end monster for hwy rolls

Cons of the 26/3.31 setup
It leaves soft even with rpm & boost
The 26" tires don't plant as well as a 28" tire would.
I'm leaving about 4k rpm on the table at the finish of the quarter mile.

I'm thinking of replacing this setup with a 28" tire / 3.73 gear.

Cruising rpm will be within 200-300 rpm of my current setup at 80mph.
My rpm at 140 will be between 6300 and 6400 rpm so I'll have more time with more area under the curve.
The taller tire should give more bite and the shorter gearing should help the car pull harder throughout the run.

What do you guys think?

i think your plan sounds good. no a 28" with a 3.31 would be a terd lol..

i have a 3.73 on 26" blower t-56 def not the same..but im going to a 28" 15" rim set up cause 1st gear us useless in my car lol..

but yea a 28" with the 3.73 on your car seems right. if it leaves soft on a 26" tire then those gears are killing you. but you do have the 3.55's as well prob need to post this in the turbo spot.

what car ?
