Thanks for all the feedback, guys. 2881, it looks like your measurements support my buddy Jim's opinion. In fact now that you mention it, he may have said 1/2", but it's been a while since we talked about it. Special thanks for that info. Anyway, I'll be one happy camper if I can keep my PST. YES! Mark at PST built me a custom DS with forged aluminum yoke caps, so it ran even more than most of PST's carbon fiber units, which aren't cheap to start with, so I'd hate to have to bite the bullet for another one. Although D&D may not refer to them as such, those ratios are 00R-spec. The Terminator-spec ratios run 2.66 - 1.78 - 1.3 - 1.0 - 0.80 - 0.62 And, of course, the Viper-spec ratios are the same as the Terminators through 4th, with 5th and 6th ratios that are 0.74 and 0.50 . That 2.66 first may be fine for a Viper that's got more torque than a Southern Pacific locomotive, but I think it's the primary reason the terminators aren't quite the thrill that they might be from a dig - at least not without some major aftermarket massaging. Okay, here's where I'm at with this whole thing - I think I've had the 3.73 ring and pinion set since last June or July, but they're still just sitting in the box, because I haven't felt any urgency about installing them. Since I added the twin screw, I like the stock 3.27 gears with the TR3650's stump-puller 3.37 1st a LOT. :burnout: However, now we're (hopefully) finally getting around to building the rear end and throwing the gears in, but I'm certainly not looking for more torque multiplication in 1st. That's partly why I started thinking again about migrating to a T56. It turns out that a 2.97 first in the T56, mated with the 3.73 gears, will give me almost exactly the same first gear pull that I have now. That's exactly what I want. As an added bonus, I'd get that 0.80 5th gear that will allow me to pull all the way to redline in 5th, if I were so inclined. (The Ford 155 mph speed governor is long gone.) I must confess that I like going really, really, really fast (you'll probably see my name on the Darwin Awards someday), so being rev-limited at 180 mph definitely appeals to me. That means I'll actually be able to justify those "Y" speed rated S03's. :-D Okay, I'm pretty sure I've convinced myself to do this thing. But if the GF gives me any crap about it, I'll blame it on you all. Hahahahaha!!! ;-) Happy trails, T-
