The F1R has been sold off unfortunately, so I'll either live with this F1D or look at an F1A or possibly swapping over to a Vortech JT or YSI. First I just want to drive the car and enjoy it for a bit.

I feel ya man. I have JT-trim. Waiting to see what it does. But it made 1000rwhp thru a auto already being overspun and it was fine.. Should be good on my combo for 900+ I would think

Yeah, if I decide to change to a Vortech it would probably be a YSI. Just comparing specs, the JT trim is very similar to the F1D I'm already running. I want to talk to Procharger and see how safe it would be to overspin this F1D by a few thousand rpm and then I might consider having another custom pulley made to get a little boost out of it. I'm also going to measure boost before my intercooler to see what kind of drop I'm getting. Shouldn't be more then 2.5psi if that. I made this intercooler using 3 Garrett cores which are some of the best on the market. I'll play around with it and see what I can do.

Hell ya man, let me know what you come up with. Yea the big thing about vortech's is that it's not uncommon to overspin them by 10k rpm and not have issues.

Who builds your custom pulley's and how much are they?

I always overspeed my larger F series blowers without issue, but I'm not sure about the F1D (It's basically a D1SC with a larger step ratio). So, I'm not sure how well it will hold up to overspeed.

As for the pulleys, my buddy is a machinist and he makes them for me in his spare time. I gave him a Procharger 3.55 8 rib to use as a reference and he built my current pulley using a lathe and an end mill. I think he was planning on developing a cnc program to make them faster.

I also found a place online (928 Motorsports) that has a few various odd sizes available for different superchargers as well. All of the Procharger ones are too small for me to use though.

Oh gotcha. That's cool man. I had no idea that's what the f1d was. Pretty neat. I really like the f series blowers. Only issue I've heard of is the bracket flexing from procharger

Built Teksid (5.0)
Vortech V2SQ with 2.85 pulley
Full Bassani Exhaust
Fore Return Setup (E85)

Anybody wanna take any guesses? on break in miles right now, hoping for at least 550, preferably 600

Also, it seems running the 2.85 pulley is putting the impeller on the edge, any truth to this?

Which V2 is it? SQ just means helical gears, is it an SI, SCI, HD TI etc? The V2 units are al 3.6 step ratios, so if you're running a stock harmonic balancer and a 2.8 head unit pulley, then you will be at max impeller rpm (55K) at around 6600 engine rpm, give or take a few hundred rpm. I know that the V7 and V24 Vortech units can be over spun with no issues, I'm not familiar with the V2 line though.

Ive got an older (2003) V2-SC. I rebuilt my entire head unit due to a seal leak and opted for the ceramic high speed bearings when I ordered the rebuild kit. That's why the other units are good up to 63k or wherever they go... Their impeller bearings are much tougher. If you plan on spinning it hard like it's a turbo I'd throw some in it.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT...
I went up in pulley size to the stock 3.60 Vortech pulley that comes with the non after-cooled kit. After running out of fuel at 6krpm w the 3.33 myself and tuner Figured bigger pulley, less boost.. maybe I'll get to my Red line, RIGHT? Nope. The car made 20 WHP/20 ftlb Tq MORE with no other changes two weeks later on the same dyno/ same tuner, same 93 octane and similar cold weather.
We figured the work load of the blower with the larger pulley matched the motors NA power curve better, and made for a more efficient setup. With the smaller pulley on it, sometimes it would feel like the AC was on at cruising speed.

Definitely try slightly bigger sizes and see how the motor reacts to it after you get a good safe tune for that high boost.

My 01 is making 488/438 somewhere around 6100rpm. @5.5 PSI!
Small pulley was 473/417 @7psi.

LMAO DOHC problems right?

Pretty sure its just a S, i dont think they got the revamped si, sci till the V3 line came out. I will eventually go YSI unless i can find a good deal on a V1

Ive read your ok overspinning them 3-5k over. Ive got the stock crank pulley so i should be good.....I hope
