I called "The Mustang Shop" today because I need to get all my shocks replaced. They told me roughly how much it was going to cost so I gave it some thought and figured I could drop the car off today. I called 1 hour later to ask them if I could drop the car off today, and they said they would call me "right back" and let me know. They never called me back. Two hours later I called them again and asked if I can drop off the car today because I needed to know so I could arrange a ride down to their shop in Auburn. They said no because I need to order the parts first and I was told, they can't order the parts for me until I pay for them....Fair enough. I told them I can send them a check in the mail. So they said they would "call me back in 10 minutes" with a total for the parts so I could get the check in the mail asap. Well, they never called. So 4 hours later I call them back and told them I needed a bill so I can get a check in the mail. And they said they would make a bill for me and call me back. And I asked them if they could just get me the bill now because I don't believe they would call me back as I was ignored twice by them already and was starting to get pissed off by this point. Then the man at "The Mustang Shop" (Don't know his name, it was probably a three lettered name like Ted or Joe) said he doesn't need my business and hung up on me! (Never did i raise my voice in this conversation, I simply said "I'm sick of being ignored and I'm starting to get pissed off")

Great customer service over there at The Mustang Shop.:kaboom::cuss:
    (Being very sarcastic)

Moral of story: The Mustang Shop is full of punks that don't know how to treat their customers.
They are incapable of...1) Calling Customers back.
    2)Preparing a Bill.
    3) Treating Customers with respect. (In fact they do just the opposite. They tell you they don't need you and pretty much slap you in the face).

My advice to you guys: Take your business to Brads Custom Auto.

Never will I even think of referring business to :bash:The Mustang Shop.:bash:

That's not the first example of poor customer service I've heard about them.

I think the name itself, regardless of what part of the US its in, dictates locating other shops IMMEDIATELY. I mean, tacky much?

    Trey,

If you are just looking to replace the shocks try www.stangsuspension.com

That's an easy job that can be done with a little pizza/beer persuasion.

Dave or I could easily get that done for you. And WE CALL PEOPLE BACK! :)

And I agree completley on Brad's. Anything that's over my head, goes STRAIGHT THERE.

well the body of the car sways around a bit through corners and feels a bit "floaty" so im assuming the shocks need to be replaced...but i havent seen in indicators as far as fluid leaks or anything to suggest i blew the shocks. And Dane at Brads says my koni shocks are something specific to go with the kennyborwn IRS and they are hard to get shocks.

So i was going to just take the car in Monday to have them see if the shocks are actually the problem.
Also, when the car is in a still position and i turn the steering wheel in either direction, it makes a weird squeking noise as if something is dried out...so i was going to have them check that out as well.

In the near future I think I need to pull my tranny because the synchros have gone bad. Also, every now and then, the transmission will clunk when shifting from 1st to 2cnd at slow speeds if I shift quickly. I have to shift very slowly and baby it to get no clunk. Any ideas?
Anyone up for pulling a transmission?
Dave?...Will?....Both?...I assuming it would cost me an arm and a leg to have Brads do it.

I haven't had any bad experiences with TMS personally yet, but I've only bought stuff from them once. As I recall, I just paid over the phone via credit card, no dicking around with waiting for them to call me back. I have also heard of other people not being impressed with their customer service.

I used to go to Brad's quite a bit, too, but they've done some things over time they have just made me not really interested in going back there, at least not for just anything. Of course, they are really expensive for labor. Also I've had problems getting them to give me 5 minutes of their time to do even just a really crude diagnosis of a couple problems...It was my DD at the time, I heard some noises that were really concerning to me, and all I was looking for them to say was either "Don't drive the car until you get it fixed" or "You should get it fixed ASAP, but it's okay to drive it until you can get it in the shop" or "you shouldn't worry about it." Maybe it was the fact that it was a Saturday in the middle of summer, I don't know. Finally, Dane charged me for additional labor after my car was done but it couldn't be removed from the shop because a delivery truck showed up and blocked it in for a half an hour.

I've found another shop in Renton called Mathewsons that I trust to do things that I wouldn't feel comfortable doing myself but don't require mustang-specific knowledge to do. They're extremely knowledgable about cars in general and have great customer service. If they were mustang specialists, I would go there for everything.

last year i left my car at brads for a few months because i couldnt find the kenny brown parts to get it fixed and it just sat there...they didnt charge me for leavign the car there. Thats weird they charged you for an additional hour. Theres no way i would have paid that.

I have had nothing but the best experiences at Brad's and highly recommend them.

If you think they're expensive, you obviously haven't had a professional work on your car recently. Their shop rate is $89 an hour. The dealership where I work charges $105. The last one charged $150 an hour and that was in 2001. The lowest hourly shop rate I know of at a decent independent shop is $75. I consider $89 an hour to have a Ford Master Tech that specializes in high performance Mustangs work on my car to be pretty damned reasonable.

Let me rephrase this...They are expensive for myself, a college kid who has no money.

I've had Brads work on my car a few times and they are great. And yes they may have a better hourly rates than others, but my point is, is it would be expensive to me to have them pull the tranny, because money is tight right now. So yes I obviously have had a professional work on my car.;-)

If anyone is interested.. I know of a few techs that are always lookin for side jobs. Some Ford enthusiasts, some Ford Master techs, some others, etc.....

BTW.... Dave/Will get a vote from me.
