Commercial vehicle dealers it's not uncommon to have explosion resistant areas for natural gas trucks, wonder if we're going to end up with some kind areas for EVs to contain these fires that appear to be inevitable

Twenty-four states signed onto a formal "comment letter" to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), asking it to deny California a waiver that would allow Sacramento to compel visiting truckers to conform to its stringent emissions standards.
Any trucking company with 50 or more vehicles or $50 million in gross annual revenue would fall under the provisions that compel them to begin replacing their fleets with electric rigs in 2025.
The rules will apply to California trucks and those with out-of-state tags that operate in the Golden State for at least one day per year while meeting the above attributes.

Regardless of how it plays out, shipping into and out of CA going to get a LOT more expensive. Rail maybe the big winner.
Luckily the company I work for only directly services the middle of the country. We use partners to cover the west and east coasts.

I wonder who is gonna be charged with the punishable by law daily fines (federal and state) until the pollution is fully removed from the waterway??? Hope they can afford the same lawyers as Norfolk Southern. Saw a boat squadron get charged $250k for leaking some diesel fuel into a creek in SE Virginia, it was just a tiny rainbow in the water and they got hammered.

Not sure about electric but Warren Buffet has been buying up/into railway companies for quite a while.
They're also pushing that angle.

You do realize this is rolling out to the entire country in tiers right? It's not just California. Trucks are going up by $25K-$30K starting Jan 1, 2026 and it will only go up from there.
