Well, GT500 member on here doing a sweet turbo upgrade motivated me to share what I am up to with my 3V 4.6 monster! :D I swear if I hear another vendor ask me why I don't just Coyote swap it!..... First thing is that the 3.4 Whipple is very nice and the car is a hoot to drive, the setup just didn't meet a long held goal of mine to own a legit 1,000 RWHP car. It maxed out in the mid 900 range and I was not willing to push the blower. Making a 30G booboo on the dyno, or strip, just did not hold any interest for me. So, is my goal silly? maybe, but as anyone knows who has tried, it is not such an easy thing to do and have it be reliable and safe at the same time. So, what to do, still had my turbo kit that made low 700 HP. I had a kick ass DOB SPEC R intercooler with stellar IAT's. Decided to take a page from the GT500 guys and have a hat built. HA! it took a month to get anyone to talk to me, everyone is busy beyond busy, Hogan got caught up on its build requests and contacted me. So Danny is talking to them about using my extra blower mount plate, which is unique to my manifold to build me a hat like below. Earlier, I had been watching the facebook marketplace and unbelievably scored a set of barely used stage 3 Bullet 3V turbo cams. Next step was to decide what turbo to use. Decided I wasn't gonna screw around and get a good one that would hit my goal with some room. Went with the Bullseye 80 NLX V-Band 1.40 A/R 96x88 Got that bad boy bought and paid for and on the way. Will send the hotside to Swaintech for coating when it gets in. This next piece of the puzzle I have really been wrestling with, it is a big hit to the wallet, but has so many useful features regarding control, tuning and engine protection, that I feel am almost compelled to make the investment. Of course now, my car is really a track freak and I need to purchase a trailer. Of course there are tons of fiddly bits to be bought including a custom radiator so I can fit that turbo into the driver side of car to blow into the hat. Also should bite the bullet and upgrade the 6 point to a 10 point or even 8.50 certified. So with wallet hemorrhaging certain, will probably accumulate parts this winter and summer and go for assembly the following winter. Anyway, "The Accidental Build" the 4.6 3V that can, carries on!
