That I can’t stand. With all the buttons on these cars to associate the transmission to similar buttons on the dash is mind numbing. I test drove the Lincoln version of the edge and I was done with it after experiencing it.

Agreed on the shifter and screen. Screen looks tacked on while it's more integrated in the Ram. Other than those things and the ugly plastic around the wheel wells, there's a lot to like.

I'm not a fan of that Korean styling where the height of the windows decreases as you go front to rear. It's pretty hideous compared to the previous generations.

What's with Ford moving away from the 3.5LTT in the explorer?

Seems like every few years another ecoboost engine is born.

Hopefully they have a rival for the SRT soon.

I’m hoping Ford showcases the Explorer ST next week. It should include painted wheel arches and better power plant. I glanced over the article to get to the photos - don’t care for the giant iPhone in the dash and the front end looks too busy with the grill and headlamps mushed together.

The center screen looks like an 11th hour add after seeing the Ram 12" screen.

I prefer an integrated look into the dash.

I do as well, buy there may have not been enough room to make it fit properly.

Ford released more pics. See if you recognize anyone:

Overall, I like it a lot. I like the front end of the 2020 Explorer better than the revised 2019 Edge. Should be interesting to what we're going to get with the Explorer ST.

The center screen looks like an afterthought. The rotary shifter is pointless as it’s still in the way where that space could be utilized for a compartment of some type.

I think the outside will take a bit to grow on me but not bad. The drivetrain looks to make it a very fun set up.

About time. I was trying to figure out what SUV to get my wife in the next two years. I didn't want an Explorer due to the FWD.

I like the looks of the previous generation better. The new headlights and grill are too soft and plain.

No offense but for what Ford is going to charge for these it should have the Lincoln Continental seats in it...Otherwise it doesnt do anything for me. I'll stick with my 10 year old MDX

I agree. I opened this thread expecting to be tempted to want one and came away still super happy with my wife's current 2016 Explorer Sport. Changes don't seem significant enough to consider trading up for quite a while. The existing Explorer does just fine with AWD. Last time we got snow, I had a blast driving that thing. Its like a big fat rally car!

that ipad in the middle of the dash looks like it was stuck on there with 3M double sided tape. Worst infotainment system design ive ever seen.

glad they returned a proper rwd layout

disappointed they are dropping the 3.5L NA from the lineup. A turbo 4, huffing down 1 atmosphere in a 4500lb vehicle is going to drank fuel like crazy. It has been proven time and time again. I suspect the optional 3.5L is only going to be offered in the +$50k trim levels.
