    All,

I had my Fiesta ST in for a minor (stupid) warrantee repair and spotted a GT350R being cleaned. It is equipped with Tech package, exposed carbon fiber dash, and has only 1500 miles on the clock. It is equipped with a roll bar, so I think the miles may have been “track related” but I’m not sure.

The car’s ride is lightyears ahead of my GT500, and the motor pulls and sounds great. Of course the stump pulling torque of the Trinity isn’t there, but this car could be a daily driver, whereas my Shelby is an ax-murderer.

Dealer would give me $41k for my car, which is about $4k lower than I believe I could get from a private sale.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Would not buy a car with roll cage.

You would probably enjoy the 350R more than the Trinity, since you appear to enjoy the complete driving experience and getting the most out of a car.

You have packed this post with a ton of clues; some subliminal and others pretty darned obvious. So, I know I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

You should privately sell the 'ax-murderer' and privately sell the ST.

You are cleary destined to daily a new GT500.

    Congrats, I am jealous.

What would they give you for the Fiesta ST ?
Then you could keep the " ax-murderer. "

$41k for the Fiesta ST?!?! DO IT IMMEDIATELY!

    Kidding....

Get the full service report on that 350r before anything. Plenty of documented issues with the voodoo over burning excessive amounts of oil and a few motor failures. these were on 15-18 cars i believe.

From what ive read, the 19 cars are much better.

Sucks to hear about the voodoo motor issues. Wish they were stout, maybe Id pick one up. 350 has been my favorite all around car to drive in so far.

I daily my R and really have no complaints. My previous daily was a 14 gt500 making 760rwhp. Honestly I think the R is a much better all around car than my gt500 was. Obviously as you stated the tq isnt there but it's so much better in every other facet. For me the roll bar would probably scare me off from the R you're looking @, as you know it was probably raced which isnt a huge deal as long as the original owner broke the motor in properly. I'd have the dealership pull an Oasis report and see if anything stands out in the service records.

    ^^THIS!
Be careful buying those older GT350/GT350R cars. Many a folk getting engines replaced or some type of "warranty work".

This one has 1500 miles and the original owner wanted something faster, so he bought a Super Snake.

    LOL
Go big or go home!! Just do your extensive research on it carefully. You can read threads about issues on the other Mustang forum.
    Good luck!

No, I’m up on the issues, and know it’s a crapshoot whether or not this thing would use oil. I’m just thinking that the original owner tracked it for a couple hundred miles before deciding it didn’t have enough power.

Is it an early 19 or late 19?

What is the car number on the dash ?

I don’t believe I have read about late 19’s having oil issues, it’s mostly 16-18’s.

In our state you get a tax "credit" (IE your trade in reduces the taxable amount) so out of the gate your delta is down $1500

S550 is LIGHTYEARS ahead of a S197, chassis and body stiffness

I believe this dash plaque read KR303. I’ll look for the VIN because I don’t know when the car was manufactured. I did see a document which showed was first registered in late September.

Found a pic of the VIN -

The salesman mentioned a tax credit of over $3K. I’ve never traded in a vehicle to a dealer, and have only been in Colorado for about 1.5 years. I really should wait and either hold on to my GT500, or order a new GT350 or GT350. I had to flake out on Nick earlier, and regret it, but am hoping to be able to buy from him in the future. What I haven’t researched is how many R’s are in production. At $65k, this car seems like a deal.

R production has been @ around 1k or less per year. 17 was the highest # of R's produced and 15 was the lowest # of R's produced.

My car has 4k miles, mostly track work, been mod'd, and I'd very much like to be the second owner for it... not for sale.

So for the right price I'd gladly buy a car that's been tastefully mod'd. Have them check if it has ever been tuned and certify it hasn't, perform a compression check, and take it for a drive.

    easy peasy

that price wouldn’t entice me to buy used, but I’ve also had quite the experience with one of these so possibly I’m jaded?

that said, i was drooling over a grabber blue R without stripes and a black roof just 2 days ago. my brain says no, but it’s likely my favorite looking mustang EVER.

What’s the price on the R? I paid $4800 off msrp for my 19R a month ago. The majority of 350s are fine. You’ll be fine.

Is it 65k they are asking? I feel like 65k for a 1500 mile car is pricey and if they are giving you 4k under your value then 65k starts to seem too pricey.

There is not many new 19R's and 20's start to get expensive again... but if you cant close that gap then I'd negotiate one like this:
    Autotrader

Get 2K more for your trade and 1k off their price, then its a 4k difference, and that's a better value to me, not enough saved to go used... new all day.

If I could save 10k buying the used one then maybe. Include a ESP warranty then probably. So that's like getting it for 59k and 41k for your car or whatever mix they want. If you can get another 4800 off MSRP new becomes a no brainer.

Call three dealers and shop over the phone for a new one and any used 19, including this one should save you 10k (or whatever your number is) to be interesting.
