Well, the new toy hit the roads for the first time today (and possibly the last)! There was some good and some bad. First off, I had to pull the one out I’m selling to get the new one out. When I opened the garage door, this is what I saw on the one I’ll be parting with... I never get tired of that magical paint! I pulled them both out on the driveway. The 500 mile one is on the right and the 4500 mile one is on the left: I then put them on the road to move the Shelby to the lift spot. The new one will go in front of the 400 mile 96 Mystic Cobra. I don’t plan to drive either one, so no need to jockey cars. 500 in front 4500 in back: I drove the new kid a handful of miles round trip to get inspect. First the good: it drives like a new car! Now the bad (kinda): the whole reason I drove it today was to get it inspected for tax/title/registration. It failed inspection due to multiple sensors in “not ready” status. The tech, who was blown away by the car, asked if it sat with a dead battery for awhile. I replied: “how about almost 15 years!” He said to drive it around a bunch to reset the sensors and then bring it back for a retest. Since this car will not be a driver, I went with “plan-b.” I called the DMV to confirm and my plan-b was what I ended up doing. I did “title only” with no registration, meaning I won’t get a plate for the car. I can get it through inspection and register it at a later date if I so choose. That said, I bought my 96 Mystic last June and the only time I’ve driven it down the road was for inspection. I snapped this pic on the drive back. It got to the garage with exactly 503 miles: I snapped a couple more pictures before parking it:
