Tell-tell sign of dead shock absorber?

My second set of uninstalled FRRP shocks came in today. I returned the first pair due to them appearing DOA, now the second set seems to display the same tell-tell signs of the first set.

Both shocks are saturated in oil and both shocks seem to move though out their range rather slow. (Slower than the used IRS Bilstein that came with my old mustang)

This doesn't seem normal or am I overreacting?

Kinda hard to see in this one, oil all over the body of the shock.

Unless I'm missing something, no shock should be spitting oil out. They are sealed for a damn good reason...

Are they hard to compress? I'll tell you this, the rough country shocks that were on my brothers lifted explorer were very easy to compress and literally had zero rebound. His bilsteins damn near would not compress by hand.

I would call whoever you got these from and explain what is going on.

It doesn't take too much effort to compress either one.

I ordered them from BBR and I'll be dammed if I'm asked to pay shipping again.
