teksid block questions

So, I'm starting to piece together parts to build another motor incase this one decides to let go since I'm leaning on it pretty hard right now.

So far, my list consists of a Winberg crank, 300m rods and a custom set of flat top weisco or diamond pistons (10.7:1). My question is who here has made 1100 rwhp with a teksid block? Actual experience leaning on one at that level. I was going to buy one and have it sleeved. please spare me the Accufab 2000hp stuff. Their stuff is filled, and race prepped. I haven't ruled out a boss block yet, but I would like real world experience on street driven stuff.

I wouldn't worry about sleeves.

And for that power I've heard the Boss block actually isn't that great of an idea. Since the bores are so big there isn't a lot of space between them for gasket material. Back when they were popular guys seemed to have issues once they got into 4 digit power. The head gasket just couldn't seal. I only made about 700 on mine so take it with a grain of salt.

i did own a teksid block at one time, around 2015. i bought it from someone who got the engine from a car that was likely crashed, but the engine had low miles. i paid like $300 and i got the block and the original pistons and rods to see the wear or damage and it all looked good. the best part about this block was the weight. i could lift it all by myself and it was easy to get in the truck when i bought it. it did have the 4 bolt main bearings with side supports. my guess is this block could handle about 800 crank horse safely.

when i got my new engine built, i did go with their advise. i spent alot of money but its a car i built to enjoy and not sell to try and make money. i feel like my new block could handle 1000 rwhp all-day long with zero problems. the block i purchased is this one:


FORD 4.6L 3V ALUMINUM BLOCK
Price: $2579.00
Part Number: FOE8R3Z6010A

i also would recommend a stock 03 cobra block for 1k hp, but they are so heavy, that it slowws the car down.

The Teksid can handle 4 digit power with no problem. It's been done many times. Your 800 guess is on the low side. I think even the WAP blocks were rated for 900ish. Though I never saw anyone push those.

At this point though, I think the go to block is the Nemak that you listed.

All that being said, I do plan on rebuilding my Boss set up at some point. Just to see what it does with a PD blower.

There have been many street driven teksids making over 1k. Your 800hp number is low as the estimated max was around 1500 with the iron block being around 1200-1300.

Teksids are stronger than the proceeding aluminum blocks and is lighter as the aluminum alloy teksid used was superior but very costly. That is why Ford moved away from the teksid and produced their own blocks stateside.

Ford went back to the iron block because their aluminum technology at the time was not great, same with their rod technology. That was perfected for the then Ford GT.
