GM A8 does have some issues. Lots of guys, especially with the CTS-V, get a shudder that leads to torque converter replacement and eventually trans replacement when it comes back. Google Z06 or Corvette A8 Shudder

Might as well wait for the new C8 then. It won’t weight more than 4,000# either.

Always better cars on the horizon.

I’ve been Ford for life but I’m considering one.

Test drive an 18 A8 GT and the thing felt huge to me. I know they can rip with a TT kit but how the car feels to me is important.

Need to test drive a C7Z one of these days for sure.

In the meantime I’m lightening up the Cobra in case someone in a Z finally wants to play. Ran into a few and not sure if they’re tucking tail, don’t want to chance it, sticking their snobby nose up....

I want a gray or white one.

True. Although I’d rather go with the c6z or 15 viper.

The C6Z will go down as one of the baddest all-around cars to ever come out of the USA. Punches WAAAAY above it’s weight class.

I sort of feel that from the start, the C7 was always a compromised generation of Vette, as GM was coming out of bankruptcy during it’s planning and development years. R&D dollars were tight back then, and the Vette was nothing more than a tiny blip on GM’s radar during their survival mode years.

Still a good performer, just nothing like the performance jump the C5 & C6 gens provided, or what the C8 will likely deliver.

C7 is light years ahead of both the C5 and C6 it isn't even in the same ballpark when comparing the two. There is no way it was compromised as the Z06 was 650 S/C HP and had a targa roof and a convertible model where the C5 and 6 was fixed roof only. The C7 was started in 2006 (pre planning stage) for your information and GM wanted it to have an all aluminum frame from the get go, where only the C6 Z06 and ZR-1 had an Alum frame which was shipped into Bowling Green for assembly as BG had no way at the time to weld alum at the factory. And another thing you are wrong on was the blip part as the US Government at the time of the buyout said that only the full size SUV and truck line was profitable and the Vette was the only ones making money all the rest was losing money for GM at the time.

I've kicked around the same idea a lot. I can't bring myself to do it. I think the auto would be disappointing, when compared to stuff releasing very soon.

I figured paddles would be the best compromise for performance/fun, but there is lag in the paddle shifts. It's electronically controlled, the connection feels delayed, in videos/reviews I've watched.

We are on the cusp of some fun new shit releasing, Mustang, C8, Dodge cooking anything?, which will be better than current gen.

Save your money for now, be patient, is what I've decided on. DCTs are about to become the norm.

Don’t be so sensitive. Never said it wasn’t a good car. Just didn’t hit it out of the park.

GM is on the record saying they only had a fraction of the budget for new car development during the dark days. That is very evident when you look at the 2007-2013 Silverado’s. Very minor updates over 7 years on their best selling vehicle.

Again, the improvements for the C7 were more incremental/evolutionary in nature vs. revolutionary changes. Most wouldn’t consider in-housing a frame and adding a removable top drastic upgrades. Same goes for improving the interior. The C5 & 6 each came with significant hardware improvements. It’s very hard to argue that.

Also, from a profitability standpoint, the Vette profit/loss is a rounding error in their overall financial’s. Minuscule. It’s a halo vehicle, not a profit center.

It usually goes something like this.

People that want to like, will. Those that don’t, won’t.

One things for sure, the Mid engine setup will open up a whole new world of performance for the nameplate. Most would probably agree that they’ve taken the front engine platform about as far as it can go.

I'n going to "assume" that the new C8 Z06 will be faster around the track now because of weight loss and the mid engine placement. Should be interesting.

That’s probably a safe assumption. Even if weight remains the same.

Damn that’s tempting. Duplex I was gonna buy fell through; I cancelled as the builder was being a dbag.

A C6Z on big and littles with cams is so awesome looking to me though.

gonna be a loong time before the c8z comes out. The C8 isnt even out yet, that thing will get marked up and bought at high prices by all the baby boomers with gold chains.

remember, the next generation vettes will always cost $ because its new and ppl gotta have it. The cars will be cheaper than porsche 911's and GM will make too many. Meaning the value will plummet which is a win for people waiting to buy low. Check C7Z prices, insane you can get a $100k 3LZ z06 from 2015/2016 for under 60k.

I thought the C8 was coming for the 2020MY? I'm not positive.
When I was inquiring about ordering a Z07, I was told March would be tight as the new models will be coming out. Maybe I misunderstood him as he meant the 2020 model and not the new body style?

Exactly. Hard to beat a '16 C7Z 3LZ for $60k. Eying a couple in that range out here in CO.
