Ok this is very weird. I drive this car maybe twice a week now and the only thing I listen to while I'm driving is my Spotify app through Bluetooth Audio. It has the latest software update. It was working a few days ago just fine.

Well out of habit I hit the Voice Command button and Sync advised to state a command (normal this far). I say "Bluetooth Audio" like normal. Sync acts like it can't hear me and goes through my command choices. I try this a hundred times. Nothing.

I try to plug in with Sync "line in" manually. Nothing. Phone just charges and my phone plays silently (like the car radio has taken over normally). It wasn't until I switched to "USB" that it would play through the car radio.

I called the Sync hotline after I did the Master Reset twice. The hotline lady started to instruct me to do the master reset. She advised that if I already had done it; then I have to take it into a Dealership to be fixed. This sucks.

Is there anything I can do? If there isn't, how much does a dealership charge for fixing this?

Pull fuse #3 in the inside fuse box and leave it out for about 5 minutes, then put it back in. SYNC will be working like new after. You'll have to re-pair your phone/device afterward. I have had to do that probably 10x in the past year since I got my '12 with SYNC. Sync either cant hear me or cant find ANY Bluetooth devices to connect to. Each time, pulling that fuse resolves the issue. It's like a MASTER "Master reset". I've had to pull that fuse so often, I colored the edge of it with a sharpie so I can find it faster. Considering tying some fishing line around it so I can pull it easier. Don't forget to have some needle nose pliers to get the fuse out as the OEM fuse puller inside the fuse box lid is useless and couldn't pull a greasy string out of a cats Ass.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

If I start talking too soon it doesn't hear me, but if I pause for a second before I tell it what to do it works. It's annoying, 'cause I forget sometimes.

Thank you very much. I googled and search like crazy and nothing to fix it came up. But considering the fix you gave; I'm surprised it didn't. It fixed it like a charm. I'll have to remember that for the future.

That was not the issue. I've trained myself a while back to allow for those awkward pauses. Lol.

You can either pull the fuse, or unplug the battery terminal and re connect it. Both work. Same issue

Anyone ever have the issue where You say "Blue Tooth Audio" and sync will repeat (Blue Tooth Audio) twice? Or you answer the incoming call and it rings once more after it picks up? I guess I need to do the fuse pull, because the master reset didn't do shit, and I have the latest update (none of this started until the last update).

And I seriously doubt they will be doing many more updates now that they have dropped Microsoft. They haven't updated their Sync Destinations app in over a year (which I use quite often for save points but HATE the fact that it uses BING for direction searches. Half the time BING can't find shit and I have to use google and then manually paste the address in).

Otherwise I love SYNC without the big touch screen. And I will be paying for the $60.00 sync service service when the complimentary 3 years runs out. It's just too handy not to have. The two times I needed to call and speak to someone for directions it was right on the money. (i still have 58 free calls remaining). The last time (my wife has serious health issues) and we were lost downtown trying to get her to the closest hospital. made the call, downloaded the directions, and we were there in under 3 minutes, and I broke every speed limit known to mankind getting there. They even offered to call an ambulance or the police for an escort to the hospital.

The TomTom I have used to send me in endless loops without ever reaching a destination. Boy did that suck. Much rather use my phone for instant / free map updates and not have the retro-styled dash cluttered with a touch screen.

Pulling the fuse or disconnecting battery for a short period of time never had an effect on the dysfunctional nature of my sync system. I've found disconnecting the battery for an extended time frame, say 45 minutes has worked to resolve the sync related issues I've had, and I've had several.

Mine has the same issue. Research shows it’s the rear-view mirror mics that have gone bad, the wiring to those mics, or the APIM module needs to be reflashed or replaced. Since my car is out of warranty I just bought a Bluetooth hands free that attaches to the visor.

Are these issues primarily with the pre-Sync3 version? I ask because I've had zero issues with Sync3 in my '16 Ford Edge Sport that I've had for 17 months. Works like a charm. I'll have to remember that recommended "fix" if I ever do have an issue with mine.

Sync worked in my 2014 with my previous iPhone 5S or 6 (can't remember for sure) and an Android phone I had when I first bought the car but since I got my iPhone 8, I can't use the bluetooth at all. I can only listen to music with the USB plugged in. My phone won't even find Sync wirelessly. Lame.
