That is awesome!! I've had several SVOs over the years. I love the car, way ahead of its time... well back in 84-86. I had considered doing more or less what you are doing except I wanted to put a modern 4V head on it. Really well balanced car and with the irs that thing should be on rails.
I was so tempeted not long ago by a really low mileage like new one on Ebay.
I do plan on doing a Bo-port stage 3 port and polish along with a custom ground cam and larger valves after I finish up all the suspension work. It should flow as good..... if not a little batter the the volvo 4v head when I'm all done.
I got almost everything put back together. The 17x8 wheels with 255's fit very well with zero rubbing issues (my fenders are rolled). I just need to install the springs and the IRS swap will be finished. Then I have to "Frankenstein" my exhaust set up together.
I decided to finally replace my valve seals and the water pump (went out on me about a year ago). So I figured while I had it torn part I should clean it up a bit under the hood and work on a rotated style upper intake.
Resealed and cleaned up the head
Putting it back together and making it look "new" again.
I found a great deal on an upper plenum and throttle body off of a 99-04 Mustang GT. So I figured I'd give it a try to see if I could get it to work.
It will fit under the strut bar and drastically reduce the amount of I/C piping so it looked like a win to me. I just needed to make an adapter for it to work.
After milling, grinding and polishing I finished up the adapter.
I had to make a new throttle bracket and rotate the throttle body 180* (because of interference with the fuel line).
I also had to port the lower intake to smooth out the air flow coming from the new plenum.
Here is everything put together, now I just need to tie up the loose ends by making a couple of pig tails for the sensors, running new value lines, etc..
