Staggered tire sizes ??

I am curious about something? Why did the Cobra R not come with staggered wheel and tire sizes front and rear? ie: maybe a 18X8 in front with about a 245 tire, then a 18X9.5 or so in the rear with about a 275-295 tire?

Is it because of possible unwanted understeer? or just simply a cost issue?

Have any of you experimented with this?

Just wondering, cause my M5 (and my 98 M3 previous to the M5) both came with staggered rim and tire sizes.

At least the tires can be rotated easily this way.

I agree that it is nice to be able to rotate at will and it also is nice to order only ONE size to fit all 4 corners, I am just curious about handling.

All of the BMW M cars come staggered because the engineers dial in some understeer, to protect inexperienced drivers from getting into trouble on the street.

It would be an interesting experiment to see how the R handles (better or worse?) with staggered rim and tire sizes???

I do agree with you on this though... very nice to have all the same sizes.
