Stage 2 of our 2012 Mustang GT Build: Project Blackout!

We decided it was time to kick it up a notch on this car a little and drop in more performance mods to get some horsepower crankin’! <strong>We’re getting this car ready for SERIOUS horsepower!</strong></p><p></p><p>For some fun power, sound and even driveability, we installed…</p><p></p><p><u><a href="http://muscle.am/AhypsR" target="_blank">Hurst Billet Plus 2 Short Throw Shifter</a></u></p><p><u><a href="http://muscle.am/w8Ta1R" target="_blank">Pypes 409 Stainless Steel X-Pipe</a></u></p><p><u><a href="http://muscle.am/AD7FSf" target="_blank">Pypes Pype-Bomb Super System Catback Exhaust System</a></u></p><p><u><a href="http://muscle.am/yzAje1" target="_blank">Accel Super Coil On Plug Kit (Coils / COP’s)</a></u></p><p></p><p>Once these were added, we strapped Project Blackout back down to our in-house <u><a href="http://dynojet.com/automotive_dyno/224xLC_dyno/default.aspx" target="_blank">Dynojet 224xLC</a></u> to see what the horsepower and torque gains were. The dyno results? With peak gains of 10 horsepower and gains throughout the curve of <strong>16 horsepower and 27 torque</strong> from 3000-6500 RPM, we were happy with the results!</p><p></p><p>To really help understand why we’re calling this project <strong>“Blackout”</strong>, we installed some stealth appearance mods and a set of <u><a href="http://muscle.am/y89yem" target="_blank">AmericanMuscle Charcoal AMR Wheels</a></u> and tires to help up hook up at the track! Check out what we added:</p><p></p><p><u><a href="http://muscle.am/wkxw9j" target="_blank">Smoked Mustang Side Marker Lights</a></u></p><p><u><a href="http://muscle.am/y6tXRK" target="_blank">Smoked Mustang Tail Light Tint</a></u></p><p><u><a href="http://muscle.am/wEtvPm" target="_blank">Smoked Mustang Third Brake Light Tint</a></u></p><p><u><a href="http://muscle.am/w03Mnc" target="_blank">Smoked Mustang Quarter Marker Light Tint</a></u></p><p><u><a href="http://muscle.am/xmQouA" target="_blank">MMD Mustang Rear Decklid Panel</a></u></p><p><u><a href="http://muscle.am/zS7yGW" target="_blank">Staggered 19″ Charcoal AMR Wheels & Tires Kit</a></u></p><p></p><p>Now that we were looking more like “Blackout” should, we headed back to Cecil County Dragway and clicked off a <strong>12.37 pass with our new mods!</strong> That’s about a 10th of a second gained with some better rubber on bigger wheels/tires (stock were 18″) and a little more horsepower from our friends at Pypes and Accel. Not too shabby, considering the <em><em>track conditions and weather weren’t any better</em> than Stage 1!</em></p><p><em></em></p><p><em>Project Blackout is looking pretty good, but stay tuned for Stage 3 of our build!
