I want a new toy. I want to keep it under $40k. I'm wide open on what to get. It just need to be on the sporty side....convertible is ok too.

I'm in the same boat. I really want a resto mod 65-67 Chevelle, but also like sooooooooo many other cars. My vote goes for resto mod classic of your choosing.

If you want modern, a C6Z is tough to beat for performance.

For a full on sports car, C6Z is a bargain for the performance at this point. If you need back seats, you may consider a camaro 1LE, camaro ZL1, 11-12 Shelby or 13-14 Boss will do nicely too, just wont handle as well as the camaros unfortunately.

I'd go with a classic. But depending on what it is and the condition it's in you could get over 40 if done right. Modern I'd look at a gen 2 Viper. Forged engine and 1000hp capable.

Import an early 90's GT-R
Well below your price mark, Right hand drive, fairly rare here in the US, lots of attention/admiration, potential for big HP, no problem selling it for what you paid if not more when you're ready to move on.

Not many anymore it seems. I remember when Elise & Exige prices were reasonable. Now they are insane. A good friend had an Exige years ago & I had a ton of fun driving that thing. If the Exige prices did not skyrocket, he'd have another & I may very well have already bought one.

I wouldn't bother with a non-boosted Elise.
