After washing my car the idle is a little high and the speedo jumps all over the place, any idea where I should start to find the short?

Did you wash the engine compartment with the hood up or just the standard wash?

Standard wash, seems to have been a short from the alternator as the car just died and won't charge.
Maybe water through the drivers side hood vent or coincidence.

I am thinking I was water, the regulator was all burnt up.
