Solenoid/relay clicking accompanied by ding

I've noticed this in my car from time to time but yesterday it happened a lot in one drive. There seems to be a solenoid or a relay thats engaging under the dash on the drivers side, I can hear it click on and off, and whenever it was happening I heard a single ding coming from somewhere. It didn't quite sound like the door chime, but that might've been because it was only a single ding. Any idea what the heck this is? It would click on and off rapidly for a few seconds, the ding would happen a few times while it was clicking, and then it would go away. Annoying, but didn't seem to affect anything

In case anybody has this issue - it was the door ajar sensor (P/N XF1Z-10B987-AA)
