So like once upon a time the HMMWV was a light unarmored truck with a 5k payload, high ground clearance and can go anywhere.

GWOT happens and they try and turn it into a AFV or an MRAP which it failed at since it lacked the power train and monohaul design.

But now, we're back to wanting a light truck... So let's buy Colorados.... And then cry when they start hitting mines and breaking apart in the field.

I know Civies always loved the CUCV but they where dog shit in the field.

I'm surprised they're going with a modified pickup platform. Other militaries are going with much smaller, lighter UTV type vehicles. The Colorado powertrain doesn't seem like it would fit with military doctrine- requiring very clean high quality fuel, and at least in stock version not very well suited to dealing with heat or abuse.

It is kind of reminiscent of the old exo cage HMMWVs used way back in the day.
