Was just reading about the Mustang in Wikipedia and found a reference to a Ford Racing of Australia built one off V-10 SN95 Convertible.

I haven't found any more mention of it on the net but I'm still searching, there has to be pictures or an article about it somewhere.

I rented a u-haul truck 3 years ago with the V -10 and thought damn!, that would be one hell of an engine in a Mustang, seems that I'm not the only one.

Anybody out there know anything about this car?, I'd sure like to find out how it was done.

I want to build one.

A shop local to me did this swap years ago in a SN95 with a triton V10. I still see the car around it is the owners daughters High School car now. The shop is First Choice in Alexandria, LA but I don't know if I would use them for much.

not worth the added weight and the shity sound of a v10, the 5.4 / 4 valve cobra motors make same or more power, the trition v10 was only a 280-300+hp engine, even modded etc was only a 300-400hp not worth all the weight $ time and custom work to only end up with 280-400hp

I figured it was a heavy motor but the torque in the one I rented was up there, I think that mod V-10 would be something though.

I like the different as to engines, I've always wanted to build a 31 coupe with a turbo 300 six in it, there's an article in Hot Rod I have that has one in a Maverick body and pulls 10's all day long.

International harvester turbo but stock other than the fuel system, the engine has lasted for years even being hammered on, doesn't hurt that the 300 six has seven main bearings and a nodular crank from the factory.

The V-10 is probably too heavy for the mustang but body's are cheap and engines are not rare, still may happen someday, I'm retired and love to build cars, the challenge is the fun part.

I was at a local car show , and there was a mustang 2, that was on the SEMA battle if the builders , that had a Triton V10 and t-56 , car was bad pass.
Engine was relocated rearward 4 or 5 inches into the passenger compartment.
It was said that it handles as well as anything with a conventional V8 .

Mustangmanjeff,
Triton V10 two valve in the 99-04 Super Duty was well over 340 hp , and 400 torque.
The V10 was close in ability but half the cost , of the Diesel.

I own that fine V10, and pull 12.000 pound loads weekly, and maintain freeway speeds thru my manual 5 speed.
No it is not going to break any speed records , not in a 6800 pound truck.
As for the exhaust sound , sounds just like any modular V8 .
Mine runs through a Magnaflow single in , dual out , exiting behind the rear tires on each side .

Yeah that rental truck V-10 had some juice even with a load in back, I kept getting squawk from the rear tires at stop signs.

I don't really care about what they sound like as long as is not like those flippin wrx's, they sound like they dropped a cylinder, even worse with an exhaust.

I still have my next project to build after I'm done modding my Cobra, a 1947 Ford Super Deluxe sedan, it's fully restored but I have an extra titled frame and I'm looking for a nice low mile Lincoln MK8 to swap everything over to my spare frame.

The flathead V8 in it with the 3 on the tree and a 3:73 rear just don't do it for me, besides it handles like a whale on wheels and the brakes.........

Yeah but most of the really nice ones I've found don't deserve to be used as parts cars, kind of hoping to find a rolled car that's not too banged up otherwise or one that was parked because the trans died or something similar.
